We are looking for a consultant-minded Controller who thrives in a multi-client environment and loves being the go-to financial expert for growing businesses.

Position Overview

This isn’t a traditional in-house Controller role. As an OOTB Controller, you’ll act as a fractional financial leader for multiple clients, each with unique needs, challenges, and goals. You'll serve as their trusted advisor, guiding them through best practices, system improvements, and financial strategy while ensuring accuracy and accountability.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Leadership & Advisory

• Serve as the primary financial point of contact for a portfolio of clients.
• Provide proactive, consultative guidance to help clients understand performance and make informed decisions.
• Build strong, long-term client relationships rooted in trust, responsiveness, and high-quality work.

Accounting Operations & Controls

• Manage month-end and year-end close, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and variance analysis for multiple clients.
• Oversee and streamline client accounting operations (AP, AR, payroll, budgeting, forecasting).
• Design and implement internal controls, scalable processes, and reporting systems tailored to each client's business.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner closely with internal OOTB teams to ensure seamless client support and high-quality service delivery.
• Leverage accounting technology—especially QuickBooks—to improve accuracy, efficiency, and visibility.

Professional Expertise

• Stay up-to-date on GAAP, regulatory changes, and emerging accounting tools.
• Approach each engagement with a consultant mindset: always identifying opportunities to optimize, automate, and enhance financial operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA preferred
• 7+ years of experience in a client-facing outsourced accounting or fractional Controller role
• Strong knowledge of QuickBooks (QBO + Desktop); ProAdvisor certification is a plus
• Proven ability to manage multiple clients simultaneously without sacrificing quality or communication
• Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and client service skills
• Highly organized, proactive, and effective in a fully remote environment
