Switchcraft, Inc. is a U.S. manufacturer of harsh environment circular connectors, cable assemblies, and interconnect solutions. Our products are used in a wide variety of industries including medical, aviation, pro audio, and transportation. We are located on the Northwest side of Chicago and currently have an opening for a Controller.


The Controller is responsible for all accounting activities including month-end closing, forecasting, budgeting, reviewing of the financial statements, preparing statistical reports and analysis, implementing policies and procedures, supporting requests for internal and external audits, as well as providing income tax data for the preparation of the quarterly tax provision and income tax returns. The position oversees both the Accounting and IT Departments.


Location: Chicago, IL (Jefferson Park)

Hours: On Site position M-F 7:30a - 4p

Pay: $180,000 Depending on Experience


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Participate with executive management in the establishment of comprehensive business and financial strategies for the organization’s various functional areas of responsibility.
  • Manage the accounting functions of the Company including general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable/credit, payroll and cost accounting.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of the month end close, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts and variance analysis of the financial statements.
  • Manage and direct all operating financial planning, analysis and control functions and reporting.
  • Oversee the corporate fixed asset management reporting and control system.
  • Coordinate cash flow and cash management activities as required by HEICO.
  • Maintain adequate internal controls and reporting to assure the safeguarding of corporate assets and the integrity of financial reporting.
  • Manage IT Department along with IT Director to ensure systems meet HEICO’s IT requirements.
  • Oversee inventory valuation, including tracking/valuing all materials, work in progress, and finished goods at month-end. Oversee cycle count program and annual physical inventory count. Perform the review of inventory obsolescence and excess inventory in accordance with company policy.
  • Conduct financial analysis and prepare supporting schedules required by HEICO for internal and external (SEC) reporting and for use in the preparation of the tax provision and tax return.
  • Provide consultation to the Switchcraft Operations President and Executive Staff regarding various business matter related to company operations.
  • Keep abreast of current financial, economic, and market conditions and determine potential impact on the company’s cash flows.
  • Responsible for the selection, development, motivation and performance of subordinate staff members. Establish standards of performance for all areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure compliance of all local tax and regulatory filings.
  • Light travel as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance Degree from accredited College or University required. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • CPA and/or CMA designation in good standing is required.
  • Ten plus years of relevant experience, including strong cost accounting.
  • Manufacturing experience required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience and knowledge of all aspects of accounting, financial analysis and planning including: forecasting, budgeting, cash flow analysis, cost accounting, cost reduction initiatives, capital evaluation and justification and internal controls.
  • Strong leadership, people management skills and ability to motivate.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with employees of all levels, including HEICO’s senior management team.
  • Highly responsive to requests, with a high attention for detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines
