Corporate Accounting Manager
SunSource is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Corporate Accounting Manager to join our growing finance organization in Addison, IL. This is a hands-on role responsible for overseeing core accounting operations, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, and driving key process and systems improvements across the corporate function. This role offers the opportunity to lead a talented and tenured team while driving meaningful process improvements and contributing to transformational projects across accounting and finance.
As a key member of the corporate accounting team, this role will report into the Assistant Controller, and will be an integral part of the broader Finance team. The person will ensure accurate financial reconciliation, create financial reporting, support integration of new systems, and strengthen process excellence. The ideal candidate is a motivated leader who thrives in a
dynamic environment, drives for results, balances analytical thinking with hands-on execution and is comfortable with various systems and ERP systems
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day corporate accounting activities, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with U.S. GAAP
- Manage and mentor a team of experienced accountants, fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional growth
- Create and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements to ensure completeness and accuracy of reported results
- Partner with the Assistant Controller and Controller on financial reporting, consolidation, and analysis of corporate and divisional performance
- Oversee the implementation and integration of key financial systems, including lease accounting, fixed asset management, and consolidation software
- Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, consistency, and data integrity across multiple ERP platforms
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets and support audit readiness.
- Coordinate annual external audits and regulatory filings, serving as the primary point of contact for auditors
- Research and apply U.S. GAAP accounting standards to ensure proper treatment of complex transactions
- Participate in cross-functional projects supporting organizational transformation, scalability, and system modernization
- Serve as a thought partner to finance leadership, contributing to the design of future-state accounting processes and team structure
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master’s degree or CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, including exposure to corporate or multi-entity environments
- Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls
- Experience managing or mentoring accounting teams
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel Proficient in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, advanced formulas, XLOOKUP’s, etc. and familiarity with ERP and consolidation systems
- Ability to navigate various systems and willingness to work in the tools
- Demonstrated success implementing accounting software or process improvements.
- Public accounting or audit background is a plus
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to balance strategic priorities with hands-on execution in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with M&A valuation, integration preferred
