Being a Creative Director at BarkleyOKRP is a big deal. You are part of a small force of leaders who drive the output and future potential of this agency. CDs are held to the following expectations:They must lead superior work, lead their team, and their clients, lead our agency and within their integrated teams, they must implement our agency philosophies and ideals, and contribute to the overall culture of our agency.They must have a vision for the work that is new, different, distinctive, and culturally relevant. You're a driven, passionate, buttoned-up creative leader who wants to help build a creative department to be proud of. You're a mentor, a great thinker and presenter, and someone who collaborates openly and eagerly, while also bringing a strong perspective to every project. This gig is leading, making, and bringing others along for the ride. It's helping steer brands in our creative department in Kansas City, being a cultural leader for an office and being a trusted partner to every client on your roster. You'll partner with strategy directors and brand leaders and grow your team by challenging them and supporting them. 

Responsibilities:

  • You have a book that shows your conceptual chops and proves you're passionate about work that spans the modern consumer journey, from TV, digital, social, mobile, experiential, and the unknown. 
  • You understand, appreciate, and are a student of the craft of art and of copy. 
  • You have experience leading creative teams, mentoring your creatives, helping them grow, and succeed.
  • You are a skilled presenter and active listener, taking clients on the journey of how we got to our recommendation, with an ability to defend our work without being defensive about our work.
  • You play well with others, respect other disciplines, and are ready and willing to roll up your sleeves, get in the trenches, and make great work together. 
  • You get a rush out of using creativity to solve real business problems and have no problem sitting across from CMOs and CEOs and championing our ideas. 
  • Your give a sh*t and figure it out qualities are off the charts, and you believe your best work is ahead of you. 

Qualifications:

  • Willing to be based out of or relocate to Kansas City, MO or Chicago, IL metro area. Relocation assistance is offered to candidates willing to relocate
  • 8+ years in a copywriter/ACD position at an agency or in-house creative department; or equivalency in experience
  • Strong portfolio of work showcasing integrated campaigns (big ideas to execution)
  • Strong presentation, communication, and story-telling skills with an ability to sell concepts and ideas
  • A positive energy and a communication style that inspires others
  • Experience managing and developing creative talent
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and the drive to implement new and better ways of thinking and problem solving
