This position is employed by Airbnb Inc., however the role will provide direct support to Airbnb.org, an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit that focuses on emergency response and provides temporary housing for people in times of crisis. The Difference You Will Make:

Airbnb.org is looking for a driven and inspirational writing leader to join our internal, multi-disciplinary marketing and product teams. These teams are made up of designers, marketers, product managers, and engineers. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and overseeing content strategy and copy throughout the Airbnb.org experience. You will partner with both brand and UX designers — together you will be responsible for ideating and executing brand marketing campaigns, product marketing, user journeys and experiences from concept to completion, helping to raise the bar of usability and comprehension among guests, hosts, partners, and donors.

You will work collaboratively with our small cross-functional teams within airbnb.org: user experience design, product, marketing, operations, emergency response, fundraising, legal, as well as outside agencies and creatives as well as the larger design and writing teams within Airbnb Inc. Together with these partners, we develop concrete creative solutions to sometimes vague or ambiguous problems. 

As the writing leader of an integrated cross-functional project team, you effectively communicate with fellow team members and other partners within Airbnb.org and Airbnb, strategically multi-task, and proactively solve problems, all while meeting tight production deadlines. You make decisions confidently and strategically, in an effort to support our product vision. You are able to substantiate those decisions with a well-considered and reasoned perspective. Our ideal candidate has a portfolio of varied work with demonstrated success building marketplace or social impact products.

A Typical Day: 

  • This is a hands-on as well as strategic role to lead and create best-in-class content strategy and UX writing alongside UX Design, Product, and Marketing  partners
  • Develop messaging frameworks, content patterns, and language to best serve both brand marketing initiatives and the user experience
  • Ability to write clear, compelling copy for various mediums (e.g. website, email, video, ads, etc.)
  • Help evolve and innovate our  content strategy and represent the voice and tone of the Airbnb.org brand across all products and experiences 
  • Ability to take stories and bring them to life for hosts, guests, partners and donors
  • Present copy and design work to peers, executives, and other project stakeholders
  • Partner with critical cross-functional partners—accessibility, anti-discrimination,  legal, localization—to integrate their input into the writing recommendations
  • Ensure quality copy production and effective communication with teammates and any outside partners
  • Build a network of external writers, both marketing and UX writers, that can deliver content within tight deadlines and our brand guidelines

Your Expertise:

  • 10+ years of experience in UX writing, content design, copywriting and/or content strategy
  • UX writing experience is required
  • Outstanding portfolio demonstrating best-in-class content strategy and writing
  • Deep understanding of marketing copywriting from both a brand and product marketing lens
  • Deep understanding of user experience design principles and interaction patterns
  • Ability to think both strategically and operate tactically, concept through execution
  • Ability to translate consumer insights, data, and strategy to creative writing solutions
  • Experience developing messaging frameworks, content guidelines, and style guides
  • Experience collaborating closely with Design, Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Creative teams
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills—you can effectively communicate and defend writing recommendations and content decisions
  • Empathy for hosts, guests, and donors, and empathy for individuals on your cross-functional team
  • Experience working in Figma, our primary collaboration tool
  • Passion for Airbnb.org’s mission and purpose

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. How We'll Take Care of You:

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
