We are looking for a dynamic and creative Customer Marketing Manager to join our global corporate marketing team. This is a high-impact, strategic role designed to turn our massive customer base into a scalable growth lever. You will be responsible for building our Customer Advisory Board (CAB) from the ground up, driving expansion revenue through targeted upsell/cross-sell programs, and working hand-in-hand with our Customer Success team to ensure our customers become lifelong advocates.
Key Responsibilities
Expansion & Revenue Generation
- Upsell & Cross-Sell Strategy: Develop and execute marketing programs specifically designed to drive expansion within existing accounts, showcasing the value of new features and services.
- Sales Pipeline Acceleration: Create "expansion toolkits" for Sales teams, including targeted email sequences, "why upgrade" decks, and customer-only webinars.
- Customer Success Partnership: Work hand-in-hand with the Customer Success team to identify healthy accounts ready for expansion and "at-risk" accounts that need targeted value-reinforcement content.
Customer Advisory Board (CAB) & Strategy
- Build from the Ground Up: Design, launch, and manage MariaDB’s inaugural CAB program to foster deep partnerships with our most strategic enterprise customers.
- Executive Feedback Loop: Facilitate sessions between customer executives and MariaDB leadership to ensure our roadmap is aligned with market demand.
- Voice of the Customer: Partner with Product Management to ensure the roadmap incorporates customer benchmarking data and real-world feedback.
Strategic Communication & Channels
- Customer Newsletter: Own the strategy and execution of a global customer newsletter and other dedicated communication channels to keep customers informed of product updates and best practices.
- Advocacy & Content: Recruit customer references and develop high-impact success stories and testimonials that showcase our unique value propositions.
- Customer Stories: Grow the number of customer success stories focusing on the business benefits of why they choose MariaDB.
External References and Review Sites
- Industry Analyst Support: Support analyst relations efforts that require customer references, such as the Gartner MQ or Forrester Wave, including recruiting customers to participate and ensuring proper follow through.
- Public Reviews: Own public review sites, such as Gartner Peer Insights and G2, including creating a strategy to drive more positive reviews of MariaDB that align to the corporate narrative.
Position Requirements
- Experience: 5+ years of relevant marketing experience in a B2B technology company, preferably within the enterprise database or IT infrastructure space.
- Advocacy Mastery: Proven track record of developing core messaging and content that generates customer engagement and improves sales effectiveness.
- Revenue Mindset: Ability to design marketing programs that contribute to expansion pipeline and customer retention.
- Technical Literacy: Sufficient understanding of database technologies.
- Travel Flexibility: Travel up to 10%

- Must have a valid passport and be flexible to travel up to 10% of the time
