Sr. Collections Representative

What will your day look like?
You will be responsible for actively pursuing loss prevention and loss mitigation opportunities for member loan and depository products including, but not limited to: credit cards, mortgages, auto, student and personal loans. The incumbent will arrange member payments, perform extensive skip tracing, investigate delinquencies, negotiate temporary modified re-payment terms for members experiencing financial hardship, negotiate modified re-payment terms for total loss or repossession deficiency balances, negotiate settlements on closed lines of credit, investigate loss mitigation options for deceased members, and perform collections activities during the repossession process including facilitating redemption of repossessed vehicles.
Responsibilities

- Work with members to understand reasons for delinquency and identify repayment terms that provide relief to the member while mitigating risk of loss to the Credit Union
- Manage components of repossession process including working with members to facilitate redemption of repossessed vehicles
- Negotiate with members and non-member representatives to secure modified payment arrangements or settlements for past due or high risk accounts
- Perform extensive skip tracing to locate both potential contact information for members and potential assets to be leveraged during legal pursuit of monies owed
- Achieve operational service level agreements including individual and departmental delinquency, loss and productivity targets
- Serve as a de-escalation point for member issues
Qualifications
What makes you a great fit?
You’ll be a great fit if in addition to the completion of a high school diploma, Bachelor’s degree preferred, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a collections role and you have:
- Foundational knowledge of:
- Collections lifecycle for all consumer loan and depository products including, but not limited to: credit cards, auto, student and personal loans
- Loss mitigation technologies, products, strategies and tactics
- Creditor obligations according, but not limited to: UDAAP, FDCPA, FCRA, CFPB, TCPA and UCC
- Experienced negotiator skilled in debt settlement and skip tracing
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
- Must demonstrate a professional phone manner and the ability to work independently
- Comfortable working in a restrictive environment requiring extended periods of time at a fixed work position
- Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and the Internet Explorer
- Secondary language skills desirable
- Previous financial institution or insurance industry experience preferred
