STRATEGY DIRECTOR, PRODUCT SUPPORT & LOGISTICS DIVISION
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Business:
Caterpillar's Product Support & Logistics Division (PSLD) resides within our Services, Distribution & Digital (SD&D) business segment and includes the design and manufacturing of wear and maintenance component products, as well as support of prime product and parts distribution, inbound and outbound logistics, warehousing functions, and packaging and container management.
The Opportunity:
As a Strategy Director at Caterpillar, you will be responsible for providing leadership and support in the development, coordination, communication, and implementation in support of strategic initiatives for the Product Support & Logistics Division (PSLD). This role reports directly to the Vice President of PSLD. This role will also provide leadership to PSLD’s overall governance process in support of strategy development and implementation and special projects sponsored by the VP. This will include project identification, portfolio management, project prioritization and project management. This role is critical in the execution of PSLD’s strategy in support of the Services, Distribution & Digital (SD&D) portfolio and aligned to its governance process maximizing value for the enterprise.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Formulate business strategies and ensure strategies and plans provide the greatest sustainable competitive advantage and maximize shareholders’ total return
Define and manage the governance process required to achieve vision and bold goals
Manage portfolio of the most impactful strategic initiatives and projects that pertain to positioning the business for long-term success.
Coordinates collaboration with internal and external business partners to ensure close alignment on key imperatives
Link enterprise strategies with business unit strategies
Manage “systematic frameworks” for strategy formulation
Provide strategy development consulting and project management
Communicate strategies throughout the organization
Define appropriate implementation plans for strategies
Provide planning and performance monitoring of all business strategies on an ongoing basis
Estimated 25-50% travel
Minimum Qualifications:
12-15+ years of progressively responsible job-related experience
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with sensitive issues, develop others, or persuade others inside and outside the department to take specific actions.
Ability to set bold goals, strategies to achieve those goals, and turn strategies into action
Ability to adapt to multiple cultures and countries
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
Experience from a top strategy consulting firm combined with experience implementing strategy into action (either as part of that work or in a corporate setting)
Exceptional leadership and networking skills with ability to be futuristic and proactive.
Ability to build consensus
Ability to simplify complex information and develop clear communications and presentation materials to a variety of audiences
Executive presence/comfort with command of excellent communication and interpersonal skills
An MBA, Master’s or advanced degree (ideally in business, finance or engineering)
The preferred locations for this role are Chicago (IL), Atlanta (GA), Waco (TX), Miami (FL) or Denver (CO). We will provide a relocation package & services to those that are eligible.
