For this position, we are seeking a talented individual to join AIS as a Senior Data Analytics Engineer.Core Knowledge & Skills: Optimizes complex SQL; applies advanced data modeling; leads robust ETL/ELT; uses big data technologies (e.g., Spark); enforces governance; implements ML/predictive solutions; manages scalable pipelines.
Work & Complexity: Solves high-complexity integration and performance challenges; runs multiple projects; delivers custom analytics solutions and automation for scale.
Quality & Independence: Sets benchmarks for data quality; drives continuous improvement; makes significant technical decisions with minimal oversight.
Teamwork & Communication: Leads cross-functional work; mentors engineers; communicates complex insights to senior leaders; integrates multi-stakeholder feedback.
Consulting & Engagement: Provides strategic consultation, leads client interactions, and advances consulting best practices.
The Data Engineer will design, build, and maintain scalable data solutions that enable analytics and mission-critical systems for law enforcement customers. This role focuses on developing high-volume data pipelines and backend services in a secure, cloud-based environment.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with Agile teams to deliver data solutions in two-week sprints
Design, implement, test, and maintain data pipelines and backend services
Develop scalable, high-performance, and highly available ETL solutions
Support microservices integration using REST, SOAP, or GraphQL
Diagnose and resolve complex system and data issues
Work with customers and internal teams to refine data requirements
Support DevSecOps pipelines and automated deployments
Required For This Opportunity
TS/SCI clearance required
Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science preferred, or equivalent experience)
4–6 years of experience in Agile software development
Strong experience with:
Python and Java
High-volume ETL solutions
AWS services (S3, RDS, EC2, Lambda)
SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL or Oracle)
Linux environments (RHEL preferred) and shell scripting
JSON data formats and mediation techniques
DevSecOps tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform, and Vault
Ability to work onsite in Crystal City, VA 2-4 days per week
Nice to Have Skills
Experience supporting government or high-security environments
Familiarity with cloud-native data architectures
Strong written and verbal communication skills
