About Strategic Analytics:
Echo is in the midst of transforming the transportation and logistics industry. Core to that is the "digitization" of many operations. The Analyst role within the Strategic Analytics group at Echo is an active participant in that transformation and will see their efforts translate directly into transformative benefits for the company.
Job Description:
Role will have 2 core components along with chances for ad hoc supporting other parts of the Strategic Analytics department.

  • Analytics Translation - support all areas of the company attempting to make analytics & data driven decisions. Meeting with relevant stakeholders to capture needs/wants, converting those asks into datasets, conducting analysis, sharing findings, and ensuring necessary reporting/products are built.
  • Business Process Automation - continue expanding on the already established efforts to support clients from all tech levels. Maintain & occasionally expand on existing Python, R products which enable digital sales.
  • Ad Hoc work - can be called to support department work, such as: Data Science, Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, Web Analytics, market pricing analysis, etc.


Ideal Candidate:
Someone who is eager to understand complicated processes, extract relevant information, conduct analysis, and report back their findings in a clear & concise manner. This person would enjoy understanding how our industry works, how our internal systems operate, and how to marry user interactions with the system generated data. Candidate has existing skills with SQL and/or object orientated programming languages and wants to continue expanding their skill set. Someone who is simultaneously coachable and willing to work through their own problems will be successful in this role.
Desired Skillset:

  • SQL - experience manipulating large dataset with multiple joins. Temp tables/ctes/subqueries, stored procedures/jobs, window functions, table creations/architecture are a plus.
  • Python/R - basic knowledge of object-oriented programming languages, ability to read data from flat files & SQL, and data visualizations. Experience with APIs, Shiny, or JSON are a plus.
  • Tableau - build interactive reporting for stakeholders, places an emphasis on user experience and how to enable data drive business decisions. Geographic maps & parameters are a plus.
  • Project Management - translating business needs into technical & analytical requirements, Stakeholder management, and creating & executing on plans. Lean/Six Sigma PM a plus.
  • Communication - excellent verbal & written communication skills (analytic insight findings, project management status updates, executive summaries, etc.) and PowerPoint presentations.
  • 3PL/Transportation/Logistics - general understanding about the North American freight industry operates, knowledge of OTR vs LTL vs IMDL modes, impacts of prices & capacity, etc. are a plus.


Work environment/physical demands summary:
This job operates in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office with an open seating floor plan. The employee may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the work day. The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear.
