What You’ll Do

The position resides within the Central Analytics Team and is primarily responsible for working on the definition, implementation, facilitation, and monitoring of analytics/reporting best practices at OCC. More specifically, this role will be responsible for leading the governance and enablement of analytics activities occurring outside of IT and striking an appropriate balance between flexibility and control. Additionally, this role will support other central analytics efforts, which may include analytics engineering, platform administration, and/or solution development.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily.

  • Act as a liaison and manage collaborative relationships with business units throughout the organization that are currently conducting or planning to conduct development activities.

  • Act as a subject matter expert on IT development practices, determine their applicability to citizen development, and maintain documentation on standards relating to their execution within the business.

  • Evangelize the adoption of applicable IT development processes, controls, and relevant tools (such as Jira and GitHub) to bolster the overall quality and reliability of business developed solutions deployed to production.

  • Serve as a trusted resource to citizen developers and provide training/support on self-service analytics/reporting tools in use within the business, such as Tableau, PowerBI, and Alteryx.

  • Design and implement appropriate monitoring of citizen development activities to ensure adherence to controls/standards and identify areas in need of additional training/support.

  • Partner with OCC’s Scrum Masters to promote understanding and implementation of agile practices with citizen developers.

  • Collaborate with ERM as necessary on the appropriate management of User Developed Applications (UDAs).

  • Assist ETS analytics engineering efforts to serve the data needs of citizen developers.

  • Support ETS development of analytics solutions created and maintained centrally.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Experience working within a highly regulated environment and navigating complex and regularly evolving compliance and risk management requirements.

  • Experience establishing and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders across an organization.

  • Comfortable working with and translating across technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Effective communication and presentation skills, including the ability to understand and clearly convey technical concepts.

  • Experience in end-to-end analytics solution development, including analysis, design, coding, testing, and deployment.

  • Ability to support ongoing maintenance of centralized solutions deployed to production.

  • Learning and growth mindset that is comfortable with ambiguity and tackling new challenges.

  • Ability to manage and prioritize assignments and respond to shifting priorities.

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

  • Ability to plan for and adhere to agreed-upon deadlines.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency with Tableau

  • Experience with SQL

  • Experience with Alteryx or similar ETL tool

  • Experience with on-prem databases and APIs to access data

  • Experience working within an agile environment

  • Familiarity with GitHub or similar version control tool

  • Familiarity with Python and/or R

  • Familiarity with PowerBI

Education and/or Experience:

  • 3+ years of hands-on data analytics, science, and/or engineering experience required

  • 3+ years of financial services, risk management, compliance, and/or audit experience preferred

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in relevant quantitative/analytical field preferred
