The Director of Analytics & Insights leads a high-performing Analytics and Insights Team that will provide actionable and innovative solutions to address complex and unstructured business questions by leveraging the voice of customer, various datasets, and statistical techniques. The Senior Director has a thorough understanding of digital and consumer marketing and a track record of successfully building analytic approaches and processes. The ideal candidate will work closely with marketing leadership to develop performance objectives, measurement plans and reporting methodologies that support campaign, brand and business goals and partner with teams across the organization to ensure the voice of customer is present in all aspects of our business. This consultative role will interact heavily with key stakeholders to understand, define and provide solutions to business challenges. The ability to clearly and eloquently present insights to leadership is a must. This person will not only be a thought leader but also a team player that can roll up their sleeves to tackle the most critical projects. The role will also be expected to help manage a team to support the delivery of key projects and data analyses.
Build Team:
- Build and lead a high-performance Insights and Analytics team providing day-to-day guidance and mentorship for team’s continuing professional development
- Set team vision and culture and champion for the use of data and voice of customer in making key business decisions.
- Set annual, quarterly and monthly plans, and drive results rolling up your sleeves when needed as you grow and inspire your team
- Drive actionable and innovative analytical solutions to key business questions by utilizing various datasets and statistical techniques (eg. conjoint, maxdiff).
- Turn business issues into the right research questions and to set analytics/insights roadmap; pursue and guide the best research approach including qualitative and quantitative insight. Compile, analyze, and interpret data to make strategic and tactical recommendations to marketing, product, technology and executive leadership.
- Own the test and learn process we use for exploratory data analysis and A/B testing. This includes helping stakeholders decide on testing strategy, generating baselines, approximating sample sizes and performing analysis of test results
- Drive analytical projects to improve return on ad spend and maximize customer lifetime value across the marketing organization.
- Champion advanced attribution methods to improve ROI; develop and refine segmentation and personalization strategies to drive revenue generation.
- Sets strategic plan for consumer insights, overseeing and directing all facets of qualitative and quantitative consumer research methods.
- Leverage market research and market competitive intelligence insights to identify growth opportunities across the business
- Create interactive data stores in business intelligence tools (Looker) by visualizing key insights to tell your story.
- Help teams leverage visualizations to uncover meaningful trends and drive actionable insights.
Analytics:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience working in insights and analytics within the e-commerce industry
- Proven track record of analytical problem solving and to help organization improve key KPIs
- Ability to tell a story and frame actionable insights from data
Consumer Insights:
- Familiarity with survey methodology and survey operations, such as design, distribution, and data analysis
- Experience with multi-method projects and the ability to choose the right method to answer the appropriate user and business questions using quantitative and qualitative approaches
Team Management:
- Exceptional team building, management and people development history
- Comfort developing and managing roadmap.
- Able to organize team to deliver multiple long-term strategic projects simultaneous with day-to-day execution responsibilities
- 5+ years managing a strategy, analytics and/or insights team is preferred
Interpersonal:
- Strong ownership mindset
- Proactive problem solver -- rather than just identifying a problem, figures out how to solve it -- what is needed, whose buy in is needed, and how to get it fixed
- Comfortable presenting at senior staff meetings and also helping a colleague debug a malfunctioning dashboard
- Thrives in atmosphere of change and comfort with ambiguity
Project management:
- Developed prioritization and project management skills
- Experience documenting processes, procedures, and rationales for projects and initiatives
Communication:
- Experience communicating initiatives and projects, with rationales for them, both via written and spoken channelsAble to present data driven analysis succinctly and clearly
Technical:
- Strong experience working in SQL
- Strong experience working in Google Sheets and / or Excel
- Strong experience working in Google Slides, Powerpoint, or other presentation tool
- Experience and expertise with business intelligence tools such as Looker or Tableau
- Completion of 4-year degree
