The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago's Community and Economic Development (CED) team works directly and exclusively on understanding and being responsive to the needs of low- and moderate-income stakeholders and communities across the Seventh Federal Reserve District. CED is hiring for a Senior Research Analyst to join a small team of dedicated professionals. CED partners with the Policy Studies team, and is a critical part of the Research, Policy, and Public Engagement (RPPE) department.
CED informs public policy and community development practice by conducting applied research, identifying and sharing what works, and building effective external engagement efforts across the diversity of the communities we serve.
As a Senior Research Analyst, you will be a go-getter who is highly motivated to participate in community engagement that improves the lives of low-and moderate-income people in our region. You will have excellent communication skills, strong organizational and time management skills, and experience collaborating with a diversity of stakeholders. You must possess a strong commitment to public service and the values of the Federal Reserve System.
You will report to the Assistant Vice President of Community and Economic Development. You will work with knowledge leaders, senior advisors, economists, analysts, and communication professionals across RPPE.
Your Responsibilities:

  • Provide analytical support using critical thinking and excellent communication skills.
  • Provide some project management support on community and economic development projects and collaborations with other groups.
  • Provide support in communicating to a variety of audiences.
  • Prepare communications including memos, reports, and presentations.
  • Write memoranda and other analytical pieces on community and economic development.
  • Participate in outreach and engagement activities.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive work environment, including supporting Bank and Department Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives.
  • Contribute to a highly collegial department environment; may attend seminars and offer constructive comments on others' work; contribute to department operational activities; perform other duties as assigned.


Your Background:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in economics, public policy, or a related social science field.
  • You have two years of relevant professional experience related to economic and community development, engagement, or public policy.
  • You can demonstrate a genuine interest in community development and engagement.
  • You have excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
  • You can write clear and compelling messaging or commentary for a variety of audiences supported by strong analysis and presentation.
  • You have outstanding collaboration and relationship building skills and experience working among racially and economically diverse communities.
  • You have strong organization and planning skills.
  • You are intellectually curious and interested in learning about community development-related topics.
  • You have experience analyzing and communicating nonfinancial and financial data, creating simple visualizations.

Requirements:
