Investment Operations Analyst, Managed Portfolios

The Role:
The Investment Management group seeks an Operations Analyst to oversee the day to day processing of Transaction Services and collaborate with Custodian partners supporting the Morningstar Managed Portfolios wealth management platform. As a member of our operations team, you will be responsible for executing across the organization with a focus on creating a highly collaborative culture of accountability, accuracy, efficiency, and transparency. The Operations analyst will assist in transactional processing completed by the processing teams based in the US and offshoreand assist in the oversight processing completed by custodian partners. The analyst would be the key team member assisting as a liaison between Morningstar and custodian partners. This person would collaborate with the team manager in establishing a risk and control structure to monitor custodian processes and service level agreements, as well as play a role in custodian integrations and product roadmap. This position is based in our Chicago office.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate a working level of industry/product knowledge of managed portfolio business and custodian and advisor workflows
- Liaise on custodian relationships through the lens of an advisor advocate
- Assist in designing and implementing a risk and control structure through streamlined workflows
- Support and execute operations processes, such as client directed transactions including distributions from managed accounts
- Handling escalated funding and distribution requests and ensuring proper and expedited resolutions
- Collaborate with custodian partners to maintain processing service level agreements
- Collaborate on strategic initiatives, product roadmap, and innovative ideas to enhance service delivery and standards
- Maintain collaborative working relationships with custodians, vendor partners, and internal stakeholders
Qualifications:
- 3+ year experience in financial services; custodian and TAMP subject matter expertise is a plus
- A self-starter with excellent communication, time management, and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills along with big picture focus; the highest ethical standards are expected in this role
- Must be highly organized, detailed-oriented, and able to work independently and in group settings
- Solid organizational, problem solving and time management skills
- Excellent verbal, technical, and analytical skills
- Experience working on tasks due under tight timelines
- A bachelor's degree and knowledge of the financial industry is required
- Ability to communicate to senior leaders internally and externally
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast paced environment
- Maintains an execution focus while looking for process improvements
