What will your day look like?

You will be responsible for executing the Data Strategy of the company through the management of the Enterprise Data Warehousing (DW)/Business Intelligence (BI) environments and duties.    Manages a team of DW/BI Engineers, working closely with Sr. Data Architect and Information Management Director, that documents technical/user requirements; design and build data models and related security for analytics; design and build ETL processes; design, build, and test user-facing reporting/analytic applications; and successfully complete rollout, training, and support to ensure that best practices are followed during design and development. This position requires candidate to have an established background in managing large data environments, excellent project management skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and support of Business Unit and Project Development Teams for the Enterprise Data Warehouse
  • Prepare and present comprehensive scope and definition documents that detail project objectives, scope, reporting strategy, resource requirements, and stakeholders
  • Define and gain concurrence on success criteria for delivery of the project, and the ways in which success will be measured
  • Define tasks, milestones, and deliverables that meet stated project objectives
  • Identify staffing resources requirements and skill sets required to meet project goals, and work with Staff Augmentation Services when extended resources are required
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, and manage resources including coordinating time tracking for team members, adjusting assignments as necessary to accommodate issues, scope or timeline changes, revised work estimates and/or resource availability constraints
  • Collect and analyze actual costs, time and scope to ensure delivery against the operating plan
  • Develop and maintain risk analyses, risk mitigation strategy, capacity plan, and issue logs
  • Resolve issues as they develop, and insure the proper communication of resolutions
  • Manage consulting services, including development of statements of work, engagement and management of contractors, and monitoring of work against the SOW
  • Assures adherence to DW/BI methodology standards, best practices, and project procedures
  • Specify the quality assurance process that will ensure the overall quality and continual improvement of the project deliverables
  • Responsible for managing the Data Services corporate and technology goals of multiple high-level projects
  • Conduct feasibility and requirements meetings with project owners in support of the requirements engineering process
  • Act as liaison between Business users and the Project Development Team
  • Mentor Business users on proper procedures for Information Systems related projects, including requirements definition and testing
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, and manage resources including coordinating time tracking for team members, adjusting assignments as necessary to accommodate issues, scope or timeline changes, revised work estimates and/or resource availability constraints
  • Research industry leading DW/BI systems, software and analytic application systems, prepare presentations and business cases for sponsors and stakeholder groups
  • Develop and maintain Data Services Strategic Plan
  • Apply great management practices in leading an engaged workforce as defined by Q12 Gallup process to effectively deliver the value of this function
  • Provide a structural and consistent approach to ensure that individual development plans are in place, performance management is consistent, performance management process is respected and followed
  • Coaching and feedback are provided on a regular and dynamic basis
  • Develop and manage employee engagement strategy while facilitating ongoing, meaningful recognition of team and individual successes
  • Provide leadership and direction to employees to ensure personal growth and goal achievement

Qualifications

What makes you a great fit?

You’ll be a great fit if in addition to the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or a related field, 10 years of Technical Management experience, and you have:

  • Minimum five years of experience as PM for DW/BI projects using a formal software lifecycle development methodology and project management required
  • Minimum three years of experience implementing DW/BI initiatives as a DW, ETL, and/or BI technical lead using current best practice methodologies and tools required
  • Minimum of two years’ experience working within the ITIL framework including incident, service, problem, and change management processes and procedures preferred
  • Advanced study or certification in DW, ETL, BI, Cloud and Hadoop/Big Data or data management preferred. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft SQL Database 2008/2016 that supported complex database architecture at the enterprise level
  • Working experience in Informatica and SAP Business Objects, Hadoop, Cloud and Tableau preferred
  • Experienced in delivering technical releases and projects in a cross-region, multi-time zone environment
  • Previous experience working in a financial institution, highly preferred
  • Must be well organized and detail oriented, highly preferred
  • Excellent relationship management and customer service skills
  • Self-motivated and able to deliver to strict schedules, as well as work with and incorporate input from other areas
  • Ability to communicate and present at all levels of an organization
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including translating complex technical concepts and issues into effective business cases for non-technical audiences required
  • Expert skills with Microsoft Office including Visio and Project required
  • Strong analytic skills required
  • Group facilitation, mediation, and conflict resolution skills required

Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
Alliant employees can contribute up to $2,750 annually to their Health Care FSA and $5,000 to their dependent care FSA.

Company provides Short Term Disability benefit payable for up to 13 weeks as well as Long Term Disability insurance that covers 66.67% of your monthly earnings up to $10,000 monthly maximum payout.
