What You'll Do

This role will support the expansion of OCC’s analytics capabilities by making internal application data accessible, usable, and visible throughout the organization while also informing the needs and prioritization of data to be ingested into and curated within our centralized data hub infrastructure. Through regular interface with stakeholders and OCC’s corporate application data, this role will lead end-to-end development of highly visible end-user facing solutions and/or consultation of stakeholders on leveraging data to self-service their own solutions.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily.

  • Lead the end-to-end development of end-user facing analytics solutions, including intake of requests, definition of stakeholder objectives, sourcing and wrangling of required data, full development of and delivery into production of appropriate solutions, and support or transition of future maintenance.

  • Create documentation and testing to ensure developed data solutions are accurate and easily understood by others

  • Discover and share best practices on data and analytics development with members of the team and analysts throughout the organization

  • Invest in continued learning on data and analytics best practices and evaluate application to OCC’s analytics solutions/infrastructure

  • Assist analysts across the organization with general analytics questions/challenges, as needed

Technical Skills:

  • [Required] Proficient in functional programming (e.g., Python and/or R) to write and deploy testable scripts to extract, integrate, and wrangle data

  • [Required] Experience with a data visualization/reporting tool (e.g., Tableau)

  • [Required] Ability to write analytical SQL (e.g., JOIN, WHERE, UNION, CASE, subquery/CTEs) against relational databases

  • [Preferred] Experience working with REST APIs for data extraction (e.g., Basic Auth, Oauth, HTTPS, pagination, parsing JSON)

  • [Preferred] Experience with a source code versioning tool (e.g., Git/Github)

  • [Preferred] Experience setting up environments, configuration files, and application code with Linux shell (Bash)

  • [Preferred] Exposure to data orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow) or schedulers (e.g., cron or task scheduler)

  • [Preferred] Understanding of applied statistics and hands-on experience applying these concepts

Education and/or Experience:

  • [Required] Bachelor's degree in quantitative/analytical discipline (or equivalent professional training or work experience)

  • [Preferred] Master's degree in quantitative/analytical discipline
