Senior Data Scientist, Product Analytics
Company Description
Reverb is the largest online marketplace dedicated to buying and selling new, used, and vintage musical instruments. Since launching in 2013, Reverb has grown into a vibrant community of buyers and sellers all over the world. By focusing on inspiring content, price transparency, musician-focused eCommerce tools, a music-savvy customer service team, and more, Reverb has created an online destination where the global music community can connect over the perfect piece of music gear.
We believe that music makes the world a better place, which is why our mission is to make the world more musical. Through Reverb Gives, a portion of every sale provides youth music education programs across the world with instruments they need to make music.
Job Description
The Senior Data Scientist on Product Analytics will contribute to solving complex challenges, in both strategic (e.g. design and plan) and tactical (e.g. execute and deliver) capacities. This role will be a part of Reverb’s Analytics team, and partner closely with Reverb’s Product teams, with an initial focus on challenges regarding our on-site search tooling. This independent/collaborative member will report to a manager, but should require minimal direction and direct supervision, and will be expected to lead/mentor more junior folks on the team as needed. As such, we expect that strong candidates for this role will have 4-7 years of relevant experience, or an appropriate combination of an advanced quantitative degree and professional experience.
This is a full-time position located (eventually) in Chicago, reporting to the manager of product analytics. While all of our employees are currently remote, our future of work plan will offer flexible workplace policies that can accommodate work from home candidates who are comfortable traveling to the office location 2-3 times per week.
Primary Responsibilities
- Partner with product teams in the development, execution, and analysis of A/B tests and other research projects, primarily with regard to our on-site search tools; this will often include merging and tidying data from multiple sources, aggregating and summarizing those data, conducting statistical tests, and building models
- Collaborate with data professionals on Analytics, Engineering, and other partners to develop and refine methodologies for measuring product performance, experiment design and analysis, and development of analytic tools for business users
- Appropriately communicate findings from analytics projects to a variety of audiences; this will often require the development of various types of data visualizations, dashboards, or other presentation materials
Qualifications
- We’re primarily a Python shop, especially pandas and numpy
- Most SQL-related work will involve Redshift; we use dbt for transformation
- We share most analyses via data visualization tools, specifically Looker and Amplitude
- We use Slack, GitHub, Atlassian tools (like JIRA and Confluence), and GSuite (like sheets, slides, docs, and drive) to communicate, share, and document
