  • Analyzes and defines the properties required by a database management system (RDBMS) that will meet the current and future needs of the company. Defines the physical and logical database structure for current and future application development.

  • Responsible for planning and designing SQL server specifications, understanding database definition, structure, and long-range requirements.

  • Define, track, and maintain standard baselines and configuration sets of all managed and/or monitored database instances and servers and implement industry best practices with regards to the following: resource allocation and monitoring administration of databases, including set-up, backup processes, documentation updates, monitoring and maintenance. Understand and expand the architecture of the Microsoft solution.

  • Utilize experience in SQL server clustering and HA technologies including mirroring, log shipping, failover cluster and various replication technologies.

  • Utilize experience in data center migration and migrating on premise DB servers to public cloud.

  • Utilize experience in performance tuning, query optimization, using performance monitor, SQL profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools.

  • Ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention.

  • Utilize knowledge of how indexes, index management, integrity checks, configuration, patching. How statistics work, how indexes are stored, how they can be created and managed effectively.

  • SQL development- ability to write and troubleshoot SQL code and design (store procs, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints)

  • Utilize experience with SSIS package creation and debugging skills

  • Solid acquaintance with windows server, security delegation, SPNs, storage components.

  • Utilize experience in oracle e-business suite administration, installation, maintenance and support.

  • Supporting EBS 12.2 application and 11g/12c/18c database.

  • Utilize experience with patching, cloning, taking backups (RMAN), handling archives and regular maintenance activities.

  • Resolve connection issues and configure TSNNAMES.ORA and LISTENER.ORA for SQL*NET connectivity.

  • Utilize experience with Linux/UNIXx, bash scripting, and PowerShell.

  • Utilize experience in applying oracle applications and database patches (pre-patch analysis, adpatch, Opatch) and schedule downtime for applying of patch.

  • Support open-source DB platforms like MySQL, postgres, Amazon Aurora, Redshift

  • Familiarity with and capable of enforcing technology management practices such as CI/CD (continuous integration/continuous delivery).

  • Working knowledge of network, server, and firewall technologies as they relate to SQL server

  • Familiar with ITIL practices like change management, incident management etc.

 

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Electronic Engineering or a related field and 5 years of experience.

 

This position also requires:

  • 5 years of experience as MSSQL production DBA including experience with design, implementation, backup and recovery, monitoring, and performance tuning.

  • 5 years of experience managing databases in virtual and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Redshift, VMware, RDS, EC2)

  • 5 years of hands-on experience of install/configure/monitor/support SQL Server 2014/2016/2017/2019.

  • 5 years of hands-on experience of configure/support SQL Server AlwaysOn/Log Shipping/Replication features

  • 5 years of experience with Database encryption technologies.

  • 5 years of hands-on experience of install/configure/support SQL Server databases on AWS/Azure

  • 5 years of hands-on experience of SQL Server upgrades, database migrations & applying SQL security patches

  • 5 years of experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) tools

  • 5 years of experience using SQL Server Clustering and HA technologies including mirroring, log shipping, failover cluster and various replication technologies.

  • 5 years of experience using ITIL practices like Change Management, Incident Management etc.

  • 5 years of experience on below 3rd party Database and application tools:

    • ETL/Data Warehouse Tools: SSIS/DTS, BCP, SSDT

    • Reporting: SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) - Enterprise Reporting

    • Third Party Tools: SolarWinds, DD Boost Backup tool, Red Gate

Every day is a little different. Our team is focused on POC (Proof of Concepts). My work involves problem-solving, development and software design. I work on the Data collections team, currently most of this involves, on a high level, automating the process currently used to collect data from raw sources through Machine Learning.
