We’re sitting in a pivotal time in the BenchPrep history. After just closing a $20 million series C round of funding, we’re fueled for growth. We’re ready to enhance our product offering, extend our position in the education and training industry, and scale our (humble) team.
We’re committed to helping students learn better, and that starts in our own office.
About the role:
We are looking for a talented market research analyst to join our growing team. As our market research analyst, you will be responsible for taking deep dives into market segments identified by our business strategy team. You are prepared to roll up your sleeves to ensure we have a good understanding of buyers and users in these market segments. You will be responsible for taking the lead on activities to define buyer personas, user personas, qualitative user models, and quantitative buyer surveys. You have hands-on product management experience in a true B2B SaaS company. You’re a critical thinker who is analytical and forensic in your approach. You thrive on finding and sharing insights to address buyer problems and user challenges. You are focused on understanding the needs for buyers and users for identified targeted market segments. You have experience working with agile product development teams, senior leadership, and cross-functional project teams, demonstrating expertise in the development and management of buyer personas and journeys and user personas and workflow models.
Some challenges you’ll tackle:
- Conduct field research such as onsite discovery interviews, shadowing, and retrospectives to define buyer personas and journeys and user personas for target markets.
- Perform analysis on qualitative user data and producing qualitative user models - flow, task sequence, affinity, culture, and geography.
- Seek out secondary market research to augment primary market research on buyers and users for targeted market segments.
- Survey buyers of learning management systems in target market segments to gain insights into their levels of satisfaction, feature gaps, importance, budget allocation, urgency, and other attributes that influence their buying decisions.
- Conduct ethnographic research and analysis to identify and understand user needs and leverage that knowledge to help BenchPrep create differentiated and successful products.
- Translate unmet user needs into insights and actionable recommendations that create value across the entire product life cycle: discovery, design, development, refinement, and launch.
- Perform and manage win / loss / exit analysis to further understand solution gaps for product backlog prioritization and roadmap development.
About the team: Here at BenchPrep, the product management team is responsible for the growth of our business. We are strong, dynamic, and wear many hats. True to startup culture, we aren’t afraid to roll up our sleeves to get the job done. We are inspired by a shared mission to help millions learn better and faster through our unique platform.
You should:
- 5+ years of market research analyst experience
- Strong writing skills, with both creative writing and professional written communication
- Ability to thrive in a fast-changing and collaborative environment
- Detail oriented and able to clearly and concisely manage deadlines
- Willing to travel up to 25%
