At Wi‑Tronix, we’re transforming rail safety, performance, and operations through real-time insights and intelligent digital products. We’re looking for a highly skilled Database Administrator to ensure the performance, reliability, and security of our enterprise databases. In this role, you’ll support product development, lead key initiatives such as MySQL→PostgreSQL migration, modernize our cloud data infrastructure, and help enable advanced analytics. You’ll collaborate across DevOps, Product, and IT to drive scalable, high‑quality solutions.
Core Functions
- Administer, optimize, and secure SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and other database technologies across the organization
- Manage backups, monitoring, and disaster recovery to meet RPO/RTO objectives
- Troubleshoot performance issues and optimize queries, indexes, and stored procedures
- Support the migration from MySQL to PostgreSQL and contribute to broader modernization efforts
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL environments (on‑prem, AWS RDS)
- Build dashboards, reports, and data integrations (SSIS, SSRS)
- Partner with developers to define efficient data models and standards
- Provide guidance on database best practices and emerging technologies
- Contribute to data architecture decisions across products and internal systems
- Participate in periodic on‑call support rotation
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s a plus)
- 6+ years database administration experience
- Strong expertise with PostgreSQL, SQL Server (2014–2019), and relational database design
- Experience with AWS RDS, Redis, and virtualization environments
- Proven success with performance tuning, indexing strategies, and T‑SQL optimization
- Experience with high availability solutions (clustering, mirroring, Always On)
- Familiarity with MySQL, .NET, and third‑party SQL tools
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
- Agile mindset; able to work iteratively and adapt quickly
- Technology enthusiast who stays current with new tools and trends
Work Environment
- Hybrid schedule: Tues–Thurs in Bolingbrook office
- Must be able to board a locomotive for field research
- Domestic and international travel may be required

This role requires the ability to begin work within approximately 1–2 weeks of offer acceptance and to be available for regular in-office collaboration. This position's anticipated base salary range is 86,000 to 117,000 . Final compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and location. Hybrid: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are in-office days at our corporate office in Bolingbrook, IL.
