The RoleThe Deal Desk Senior Manager is responsible for building and running a centralized Deal Desk function that accelerates deal velocity, improves quote-to-contract execution, and removes administrative burden from sellers. This role designs the operating model, hires and leads the Deal Desk team, and establishes scalable processes, SLAs, tooling, and governance across quoting, pricing and discounting, and contracting workflows. This role owns end-to-end deal execution from first quote through contract signature, ensuring commercial, legal, and finance requirements are met with speed and accuracy.
The Deal Desk serves as the operational quarterback owning intake, orchestration, and execution of deals while routing approvals to the appropriate stakeholders. The function enables sellers to focus on customer engagement and value creation, not internal coordination. Importantly, this role is focused on speed, accuracy, first-time issue resolution, and disciplined governance that protects pricing integrity and reduces contract and compliance risk.

Key Responsibilities:Build & Lead the Deal Desk Function
  • Design (using best practices) and stand up the Deal Desk operating model, including scope, intake criteria, SLAs, approval routing, and escalation paths.
  • Hire, onboard, and lead a team of Deal Desk Specialists; establish performance expectations and operating cadence.
  • Partner with Sales, Legal, Pricing, Finance, Product, and Operations to validate current-state responsibilities and implement future-state best practices.
Own Deal Execution Governance (Quote to Contract)
  • Oversee end-to-end deal execution from intake through quote creation, approval coordination, contract execution, and handoff readiness.
  • Ensure deal submissions meet completeness and quality standards to reduce rework and rejects.
  • Apply commercial and pricing governance, including discount policy adherence, approval enforcement, and deal-level margin/profitability considerations in partnership with Finance and Pricing.
  • Partner with Legal to triage redlines and manage non-standard terms; ensure risk exceptions, compliance requirements, and required approvals are captured and auditable.
  • Create and maintain playbooks for standard vs. non-standard deal paths and escalation thresholds.
Cross-Functional Orchestration
  • Serve as the primary operational liaison across Sales, Pricing, Legal, Finance, Product, and Operations.
  • Run a consistent deal unblock cadence (e.g., standing deal triage or deal factory sessions).
  • Drive role clarity and eliminate non-decision makers from deal workflows.
Process, Policy, and Standardization
  • Define and maintain approval matrices, SLAs, and risk-based deal thresholds.
  • Define discounting guardrails and commercial policy (e.g., non-standard terms, price holds, ramps, custom payment terms) and ensure consistent enforcement through an approval matrix.
  • Standardize templates, documentation, contract tiering playbooks, and acceptable rejection criteria.
  • Implement policies that make administrative corrections non-blocking to deal progress.
Tools, Data Quality, and Enablement
  • Partner with RevOps and Sales Systems to optimize CRM, CPQ, and intake workflows.
  • Ensure deal data accuracy and reporting visibility across systems.
  • Create enablement materials and train sellers on when and how to engage Deal Desk.
Process Improvement & Automation (Challenge and Re-Design)
  • Drive a continuous improvement mindset across CCC—challenge current workflows, question assumptions, and redesign processes for speed, quality, and scalability (not just centralization).
  • Identify high-friction steps and eliminate waste through standardization, simplification, and clear decision rights.
  • Partner with Sales Systems/RevOps to automate manual work (intake triage, routing, approvals, data validation, quote generation) and reduce administrative burden on sellers and reviewers.
  • Build a roadmap of automation and process enhancements, prioritize by impact/effort, and deliver measurable efficiency gains (cycle time reduction, lower rework, and increased throughput).
Performance Management & Continuous Improvement
  • Define and track KPIs including cycle time, SLA adherence, rework rate, and seller hours saved.
  • Identify recurring bottlenecks and implement scalable process improvements.
Success Measures
  • Reduced quote-to-contract cycle time
  • Improved SLA attainment for quoting and contracting
  • Reduced deal rework and administrative rejections
  • Increased seller selling time and capacity
  • Improved deal visibility and governance
  • Improved pricing integrity and reduced margin leakage through consistent discount and exception governance

Requirements:
  • 7+ years of experience in Deal Desk, Revenue Operations, Sales Operations, Commercial Operations, or related SaaS roles
  • 3+ years of people leadership experience, including hiring, coaching, and scaling operational teams
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing deal desk operating models, intake/triage workflows, approval matrices, and SLAs
  • Strong working knowledge of SaaS commercial constructs (pricing, discounting, renewals, amendments, ramp deals, multi-year, payment terms) and ability to partner effectively with Finance and Legal
  • Experience partnering with Legal on contracting workflows, redlines, and governance for non-standard terms
  • Proficiency with CRM and CPQ tools (e.g., Salesforce and CPQ platforms) and comfort translating process into system requirements
  • Strong analytical and communication skills; ability to drive KPI-based continuous improvement (cycle time, SLA adherence, rework, throughput)
