The Principal Architect will work as part of an extended architecture team of solution-specific architects to ensure best practices are implemented across applications. The role entails setting direction for strategic initiatives such as CI/CD and enterprise monitoring, and it involves mentoring junior team members and guiding more tactical automation projects.

You’re the ideal candidate if you enjoy improving engineering efficiency, mentoring junior members, promoting best practices, and digging into the technical details as necessary.

  • Collaborate with application architects on standardized and scalable methods to manage logs, service elements, etc.
  • Incorporate AI enabled tooling – both COTS and home-grown (observability, pipeline efficiency, SRE troubleshooting, etc.)
  • Design and develop DevOps tools to reduce manual toil, improve security and reduce human error
  • Build resilient and self-scaling systems that minimize customer impacts, while providing a healthy work environment for operators

Be Prepared — What You Bring

  • 15 years minimum experience in software development, DevOps, and/or SRE
  • 5 years minimum experience architecting CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps and other SRE automation in large-scale cloud environments
  • Experience with GenAI in an operations environment
  • Experience architecting monitoring and management systems for enterprise SaaS products
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring and alerting tools (PagerDuty, Prometheus, Grafana, etc)
  • Hands-on experience with cloud architecture and deploying cloud infrastructure
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (EC2, Elasticsearch, Lambda, CloudFormation, etc)
  • Experience with other cloud vendors: GCP, Azure and OCI
  • Experience with CI/CD toolchain (Jenkins, Kubernetes, Flux)
  • Solid networking experience (TCP/IP, routing, DNS)
  • Experience using C, Python, Java, or GoLang
  • US Citizenship or Green Card Holder required

Be Successful — Your Path

First 90 Days: Immerse in our culture, connect with mentors (Blox Buddies), and map the systems and meet with key stakeholders that rely on your work. Discuss and create short/long term goals.

One Year: Collaborate with architects and other Engineering leaders across development teams in the quest for engineering efficiency, incorporate GenAI to create digital agents and build tooling that reduces toil and improves mean time to resolution of production issues and serve as a guiding leader for both short- and long-term DevOps initiatives.
