Overview

TNS Automation Development is seeking a senior, hands-on engineering leader to own and evolve the platforms, infrastructure, and software delivery capabilities behind our network automation strategy. Our automation ecosystem supports more than 70,000 network devices. This role combines deep technical ownership with leadership across platform reliability, cloud architecture, DevSecOps, release management, and operational excellence. You will partner with Automation Developers, Network Engineers, Security, Global Systems, cloud teams, and business stakeholders to build a scalable, secure, resilient, and maintainable automation ecosystem.

Responsibilities

What You Will OwnPlatform Engineering & Operations
  • Own the architecture, deployment, operation, and lifecycle of network automation applications and supporting services.
  • Design and operate containerized applications on Kubernetes using Helm, Argo, and Terraform.
  • Own the Nautobot platform stack, including Python/Django, Celery, uWSGI/NGINX, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kubernetes, AWS, and GitLab CI/CD.
  • Lead platform upgrades, plugin lifecycle management, performance tuning, capacity planning, resiliency, and observability improvements.
DevOps & Software Delivery
  • Build and manage application images, containers, and deployment workflows.
  • Own GitLab standards, branching strategy, runners, CI/CD pipelines, release promotion, and software delivery practices.
  • Establish reliable release processes across development, test, and production environments.
Cloud, Security & Risk
  • Partner with Global Systems and cloud teams to evolve AWS infrastructure, hosting models, scalability, disaster recovery, and operational support.
  • Own and manage AWS infrastructure supporting network automation platforms, including IAM roles and policies, EKS, EC2, VPC networking, security groups, S3, load balancing, and platform monitoring.
  • Embed DevSecOps practices, including SAST, dependency scanning, container scanning, and infrastructure security validation.
  • Ensure platform and deployment practices align with corporate security policies and audit requirements.
Technical Leadership
  • Serve as the senior technical authority for platform engineering and DevOps within the Automation team.
  • Set engineering standards and guardrails, mentor developers, and influence the future of network automation at TNS.

Qualifications

Required Experience
  • 10+ years of progressive IT engineering experience, including 5+ years of hands-on DevOps or platform engineering.
  • Proven experience deploying and operating production applications on Kubernetes.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS, Terraform, Helm, Docker, Git, GitLab administration, runners, and CI/CD pipeline design.
  • Strong hands-on AWS experience including IAM, EKS, EC2, VPCs, S3, security controls, monitoring, and cloud networking.
  • Hands-on Experience operating distributed application platforms using Kubernetes, Celery, Redis, and containers.
  • Experience implementing DevSecOps practices and security scanning across the software lifecycle.
  • Experience supporting highly available production applications with demanding operational requirements.
  • Ability to lead architecture decisions, solve complex platform problems, and guide engineers through implementation.
Preferred Experience
  • Nautobot, NetBox, or comparable network source-of-truth platforms.
  • Network automation and orchestration, including Ansible.
  • Python and Django applications; PostgreSQL or MongoDB.
  • GitLab Runner architecture and management; Argo-based deployment workflows.
  • Enterprise platforms operating in regulated environments.
What Success Looks Like
  • Within the first 12 months, you will:
  • Lead the transition of the Nautobot AWS/Kubernetes platform from vendor-managed operations to a TNS-owned and operated service, including architecture, deployment, upgrades, security, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
  • Standardize GitLab workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and release management.
  • Provide clear technical leadership for platform engineering and automation infrastructure.
  • Lead the AWS architecture and migration approach for applications, services, and infrastructure moving from on-premises and legacy environments.

For this role in the United States, we anticipate paying $125,000k - $155,000K. The actual amount may be higher or lower than the range provided considering each candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location. TNS offers a competitive benefit package.
