What You Will Do:
- Maximize the value of the product through strong partnership with product owners, business partners and engineering, utilizing deep domain expertise to create and maintain a detailed product backlog
- Ensure we have deep understanding of users and their processes (triggers, steps, roles, outcomes)
- Product manage components of complex, cross product initiatives with high value to the organization, through backlog planning, scope validation, impact analysis, functional requirements identification and documentation of epics and features
- Build tight collaboration and understanding of stakeholder needs and business goals across impacted products - at times facilitating process modeling and brainstorming activities to transform broad ideas and concepts into clear goal alignment and desired user requirements/experiences.
- Lead detailed definition of major experience elements - covering the logic, structure, skeleton, and relationships of how an experience should come together across functions/domains, including facilitation of wireframe creation
- Define user acceptance test criteria as direct input to testing plans, conduct and/or coordinate business acceptance testing and sign-off to ensure epic and features are delivered according to agreed-upon business expectations
What You Will Have:
- Business Analysis: Working knowledge of business analysis and the set of tasks, techniques and tools required to identify business needs; ability to recommend solutions that deliver value to stakeholders.
- Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
- Effective Communications: Basic understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
- Software Product Business Knowledge: Working knowledge of and experience with the business aspects and operation of a software product; ability to manage install base, current uses, future plans, and product vision.
- Software Change Request Management: Working knowledge of software change request management; ability to manage software product change requests from customers, prospective customers, vendors, and internal staff.
- User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Working knowledge of UAT activities, tasks, tools and techniques; ability to design, implement and evaluate acceptance tests for end-users.
Considerations for Top Candidates:
- Typically a four-year Bachelor's degree preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, Communications, Engineering or related field or equivalent working experience
- Experience in digital product management, user experience, user research, digital strategy, or related function (2+ years)
- Mandatory domain expertise in subscription and billing software, including catalog management, revenue models and financial reporting.
- Superb communication, presentation, storytelling, interpersonal, and analytical skills
- Ability to work well within multiples teams including business/commercial partners, cross- product portfolio, development, and field facing arms of an organization - aligning differing viewpoints and priorities & objectives along the way
- Strong accountability, planning, and organizational skills
- Ability to consider multiple variables of a decision and prioritize accordingly in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working in an Agile environment while simultaneously managing multiple priorities
- Experience managing projects using Product Management and/or Agile software tools such as Aha, ProductBoard, Azure DevOps, JIRA, Team Services, Rally
- Displayed understanding of common and emerging UX and user research methodologies/artifacts
- Experience utilizing a variety of experience mapping techniques based on need (user story mapping, object mapping (OOUX), assumption mapping, etc.)
- Good knowledge of Caterpillar policies, standards, procedures, and a broad understanding of Caterpillar's organization
- Professional experience with heavy equipment technology solutions, business applications, and/or fleet management.
