Employees within a 90-minute radius of our Oak Brook, IL headquarters are required to adhere to the company in-office work guidelines of 4 days per month minimum from 10 am to 2 pm (1 of the 4 days must be a Monday or Friday).

Job Summary & Responsibilities
The Digital Design Manager will report to the Director, Design in the Consumer Experience Department. As a Digital Design Manager, you'll have a senior-level role within our Product and Customer Experience design teams and be responsible for overseeing and guiding the design process of a product or service from conception to execution. This role also involves overseeing the creation, maintenance, and evolution of our comprehensive design system that encompasses visual design, user interface components, interaction patterns, and guidelines. This role additionally involves a combination of design expertise, leadership skills, and strategic thinking to create user-centered and visually appealing products that meet business objectives.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Develop a clear vision and strategy for the design system's evolution and adoption within the organization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align design system goals with business objectives and user needs.
  • Create a roadmap for design system enhancements and updates based on industry trends, technology advancements, and user feedback.
  • Lead the creation, documentation, and maintenance of design principles, guidelines, patterns, and components.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and performance feedback to team members.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product managers, engineers, researchers, etc.) to define and align design goals, strategies, and priorities based on user needs and business objectives.
  • Design intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces (UI) and user experiences (UX) that meet usability and accessibility standards.
  • Advocate for design thinking and user-centered design principles within the organization. Educate and promote the value of design to cross-functional teams.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and helps to onboard and train new staff.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Evaluate employee performance, provide feedback, and conduct performance reviews. Identify areas for development and create plans to enhance team members' skills.
  • Uniformly identify high performers who consistently produce quality work.
  • Remove barriers for the team, ensuring team members have all the tools, resources, and context to execute.
  • Has a good understanding of their team's strengths and opportunities, capitalizing on their strengths and coaching opportunities.
  • Address challenges and conflicts that arise within the team or projects. Make decisions that balance various factors and contribute to the overall success of the organization.
  • Cultivate relationships with clients, partners, and other departments to facilitate collaboration and achieve common goals.
  • Provide direction, guidance, and support to a team of employees. Set clear expectations, delegate tasks, and ensure effective communication within the team.

Preferred Qualifications
Education & Experience:
  • 7+ years of experience with 5-7 years of design systems management experience
  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent)
  • Helpful Majors/Minors/Certifications may include but are not required: UX/UI Design, Graphic Design, Interactive Media, or other related fields

Skills & Abilities:
The ideal candidate should have experience in:
  • Highly proficient in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and Storybook.
  • Proven understanding of building digital experiences and products through user-centric design.
  • Ability to be proactive and analytical.
  • Affinity for solving problems and proposing solutions.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to earn respect and credibility throughout the organization.
  • Ability to strive for excellence-celebrate and push the boundaries of creativity in unexpected ways.

Other Requirements:
  • Ability to work occasional overtime.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Compensation & Benefits
$130,000-$155,000 per year
