We're looking for a skilled digital copywriter who can catch a parent's attention, keep them reading, and encourage them to join Explore Learning.
Since 2001, Explore Learning has helped 450,000 families support their children’s progress in maths and English. We're a leading provider of after-school tuition for children aged 4 to 16 in 95 centres across England, Scotland and Wales, and online too. The work our teams do every day makes a measurable difference:
- Our members make 21 months of progress in a single year
- 90% pass their SATs, compared to a national average of 74%
- We were named Private Tutoring Provider of the Year 2025 at the Education Investor Awards
- Families rate us 4.8 stars from 4,000 Google reviews and 4.6 from 2,500 reviews on Trustpilot
But facts alone won't convince a parent. Before they trust us with their child, parents often do their research, compare options and look for trusted voices before deciding. They might search late at night, skim an ad during the school run, or visit our landing page more than once before signing up. Each of those moments needs different words. A search ad has seconds to answer a question, a social ad has to stop the scroll, and a landing page has to settle the doubts still holding a parent back. Our job is to write the words that work in each of those moments.
We already have a Brand Copywriter who shapes our voice. This role completes the team. It’s a permanent three-day-a-week role in our marketing team, working closely with the owners of each channel. You’ll write digital ads, website and landing pages, and blog posts for parents who find us through search, then review the results and improve your work.
The RoleWhat you'll be doing
- Paid ads: headlines, primary text and descriptions for Meta and Google, with enough variants to test properly.
- Website and landing pages: homepage, product and campaign pages, pricing and FAQ copy for our paid and organic traffic, each consistent with the channel or ad that brought the parent there.
- Blog and organic: articles and free resources built around what parents search for, written from keyword briefs with internal links to a clear next step, and existing articles updated or merged where that earns more than writing new ones.
How you’ll work
- Get to know our different audiences: what they search for, what worries them and what matters most when they consider tuition. Read reviews, talk to centre teams and join a trial session.
- Write each piece for one parent, one objection and one action, rather than everything we could say.
- Find different angles on the same proposition for different products and parents: SATs, 11+, GCSE, and those who've never considered tuition.
- Adapt our hero campaigns to each channel and write to key moments in the school year and giving parents a reason to act now.
- Propose A/B tests on headlines, hooks, CTAs and page structure to channel owners and write distinctive variants, then document the insight from each test and use it to recommend next tests or iterations.
- Work with the Brand Copywriter, channel owners, designers and the digital team to deliver copy that’s on brand and accurate and drives results.
About you
We value your work and how you think about it, not your CV. The best thing you can send us is proof that your copy led to a measurable result.
Essential
- 2+ years writing acquisition, performance or direct response copy, in-house or agency side.
- A portfolio with landing pages and paid ad copy in it, and evidence of how it performed.
- You know how to write concisely and to character limits. When needed, you can share an idea in just eight words.
- You focus on the reader's problem first, not just the product's features, and you can explain why your copy works.
- You know how copy works differently on search, social, landing pages and blog, and you adapt it to where the parents are in their decision.
- You can write to a brief, meet deadlines, and handle a high volume of work.
- You can prioritise requests from several channel owners and say plainly what fits in the time available.
- You can use SEO briefs and keyword data but still write copy that parents want to read.
- Excellent written English & communication skills, with the attention to detail to make sure every word, fact and claim is right before it goes live.
Desirable
- You've written for parents, or for education, childcare or another considered family purchase.
- You've run copy tests and can talk about what you learned.
- Experience publishing in a CMS (we use Contentful).
- You’re confident using AI tools to develop toolkits for drafting and variants, not as a replacement for your point of view.
