The Digital Media Director is responsible for providing strategic and technical leadership across digital media planning, performance marketing, analytics, and campaign optimization. The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert in digital media and performance marketing, helping teams translate data, audience insights, and business objectives into effective digital campaigns and solutions. The role also involves overseeing campaign performance, supporting capability development within teams, and contributing to innovation, operational excellence, and client growth.

Key ResponsibilitiesDigital Strategy & Performance Marketing
  • Support the development and execution of integrated digital media and performance marketing strategies for clients across multiple sectors.
  • Provide technical guidance on digital channels including paid social, search, programmatic, video, display, and eCommerce platforms.
  • Contribute to audience targeting, media planning, campaign optimization, and digital growth initiatives.
  • Translate client business objectives into effective digital media solutions and performance strategies.
  • Stay informed on digital trends, emerging technologies, platform updates, and market opportunities.
Analytics, Insights & Reporting
  • Analyze campaign and platform performance data to generate actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Support the development of campaign measurement frameworks, KPIs, and reporting structures.
  • Interpret audience, media, and conversion data to improve campaign effectiveness and ROI.
  • Monitor digital performance metrics across campaigns and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Contribute to market research, competitor analysis, and digital performance evaluations.
Campaign Oversight & Optimization
  • Support campaign execution teams in delivering high-performing digital campaigns across platforms.
  • Evaluate digital content including advertisements, website copy, landing pages, and social media performance.
  • Ensure campaigns are monitored, optimized, and aligned to agreed objectives and budgets.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to improve campaign effectiveness and operational efficiency.
Client & Stakeholder Support
  • Act as a strategic and technical advisor to internal teams and clients on digital media best practices.
  • Support presentations, campaign reviews, and strategic recommendations for clients and stakeholders.
  • Work closely with media, creative, strategy, analytics, and technology teams to ensure integrated delivery.
  • Build strong working relationships with media partners, platform representatives, and vendors.
Team Leadership & Capability Building
  • Support the recruitment, onboarding, and development of digital media talent within the team.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to capability building across digital media and analytics.
  • Promote best practices in campaign management, performance marketing, reporting, and optimization.
  • Encourage a collaborative, innovative, and performance-driven team culture.
Budget & Operational Management
  • Support campaign budgeting, forecasting, media reconciliations, and financial tracking processes.
  • Ensure campaigns are delivered within approved budgets and operational processes are followed.
  • Assist in resource planning and operational improvements across digital media projects.
Required Qualifications & ExperienceRequired
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Business, Media, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in digital media, performance marketing, or digital strategy within an agency or consulting environment.
  • Strong understanding of digital media platforms and performance marketing principles.
  • Proven experience analyzing digital performance data and translating insights into optimization opportunities.
  • Experience managing integrated digital campaigns across multiple channels and platforms.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and presentation skills.
Preferred
  • Experience working with regional or multinational clients.
  • Experience in African or emerging markets is an added advantage.
  • Certifications in Google Ads, GA4, Meta, DV360, or other digital media platforms are desirable.
Technical Skills & Competencies
  • Strong understanding of digital media across the funnel including Search, Social, Programmatic, Video, and eCommerce.
  • Experience with digital analytics and reporting tools including GA4, media dashboards, and platform analytics tools.
  • Strong analytical thinking and performance optimization capability.
  • Understanding of audience segmentation, attribution, and digital measurement frameworks.
  • Knowledge of first-party data strategies, privacy considerations, and digital governance principles.
  • Strong project coordination and budget management skills.
