Job Summary:
The Director, Zoro Accounting and Endless Assortment Finance will play a dual role in leading Zoro’s accounting function, including technical accounting and internal controls, as well as leading the consolidation of the Endless Assortment segment for reporting and planning purposesThis role will partner closely with Zoro FP&A, Grainger Controllership and Corporate FP&A.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- You will lead a team of approximately 6 people across two areas, Zoro Accounting and Endless Assortment Finance, providing coaching, development and thought leadership to the team.
- Zoro Accounting responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing process for Zoro, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, compiling of financial statements, etc.
- Develop a simple reporting/close package that can be leveraged to understand actual results, to evaluate risks and opportunities, and to prepare Zoro’s Financial Monthly Business Review.
- Ensure compliance with all GAAP (Generally Acceptable Accounting Principles) accounting and reporting requirements.
- Identify opportunities to simplify and standardize reporting and processes, leveraging best practices.
- Provide technical and policy guidance with respects to revenue recognition and proper expense treatment.
- Maintain appropriate internal controls, assess financial risks, and develop strategies to mitigate potential threats to the company's financial stability and growth. Stay informed about industry trends, accounting developments, and regulatory changes that may impact financial operations and reporting.
- Endless Assortment Finance responsibilities:
- Identify opportunities to streamline reporting and processes by partnering closely across the Zoro finance / accounting teams.
- Partner with the MonotaRO and Zoro UK finance teams to enhance our understanding of the business, financial results and forward looking projections. Convert results from local GAAP to U.S. GAAP for reporting and planning purposes. Keep abreast of material transactions at MonotaRO.
- Maintain a solid relationship with EY as it relates to MonotaRO and the EA segment.
- Consolidate actual results and Plan/forecasts for the EA segment.
- Partner with Corp FP&A for key deliverables, including monthly operating reviews, Plan/forecast submissions, etc.
- Collaborate with Investor Relations to ensure appropriate messaging in quarterly earnings materials.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
- Approximately 10 years of proven accounting/finance experience.
- At least 5 years of prior experience in financial leadership
