We're looking for a Director, Accounting to lead our revenue accounting function and oversee the comprehensive month-end close process. This pivotal role is responsible for ensuring the accurate recognition of revenue, optimizing our close procedures, and guiding our accounting teams through a critical period of growth and operational excellence.

Who you’re committed to being:

  • You're a strategic and detail-oriented accounting leader with a deep understanding of complex revenue recognition standards and efficient month-end close methodologies.

  • You are committed to driving accuracy, process improvement, and operational efficiency.

  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess exceptional analytical and communication skills, and are dedicated to developing and mentoring a high-performing accounting team.

  • You are a team member first and individual contributor second. You are aware that high-performing teams are only as strong as their weakest link.

  • You believe in continuous improvement and request frequent feedback from others.

What you’ll do:

  • Revenue Accounting Leadership: Owning the end-to-end revenue recognition process, including the application of ASC 606/IFRS 15 for complex contracts. This involves ensuring accurate revenue accruals, deferrals, and reporting, as well as collaborating with sales, legal, and operations teams on contract review and policy application. You'll also be responsible for preparing and reconciling revenue-related accounts.

  • Month-End Close Management: Leading and streamlining the comprehensive monthly accounting close process. This includes overseeing the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement analyses to ensure timely and accurate reporting. You'll identify opportunities for automation and process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce close timelines.

  • Financial Statement Review & Analysis: Performing in-depth review of financial statements and related disclosures, ensuring compliance with GAAP/IFRS. You'll provide insightful analysis of financial results, identifying trends and variances, and communicating key findings to leadership.

  • Policy & Controls: Developing, implementing, and maintaining robust accounting policies and internal controls related to revenue and the close process. You'll ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Team Development & Oversight: Managing and mentoring accounting team members involved in revenue and month-end close activities, fostering their professional growth and ensuring high-quality output.

  • Ad-Hoc Projects: Leading or assisting with special projects related to accounting system implementations, new business initiatives, or other ad-hoc financial analyses as required.

Experience you’ll bring:

  • Revenue Recognition Expertise: Deep practical experience with revenue recognition standards (ASC 606/IFRS 15), including complex contracts and multi-element arrangements.

  • Close Process Optimization: Proven track record of leading and improving month-end close processes in a dynamic environment.

  • Analytical Prowess: Advanced knowledge of Excel and strong analytical abilities to interpret complex data, identify trends, and drive actionable insights.

  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with strong interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.

  • System Savvy: Experience with large ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and financial reporting tools is highly desirable.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 8 years of related or equivalent experience in accounting, with a strong focus on revenue and financial close processes; or 6+ years with an advanced degree.

  • Master’s degree in accounting or finance preferred.

  • CPA or equivalent certification highly preferred.

  • Hybrid Work Model: This role follows a hybrid schedule, with on-site work at our Westlake/Dallas, TX office Tuesday through Thursday and remote flexibility on Mondays and Fridays. This approach helps us collaborate more effectively, make decisions more quickly, and build a stronger culture, while still providing flexibility.

Why you’ll love working here:

  • We’re a blended workplace, where team members work remotely or in a hybrid setup depending on their role and location

  • We’re mission driven and guided by our culture pillars

  • We have a strong commitment to diversity and belonging

  • We cultivate a culture of trust, autonomy, and collaboration

  • We’re lifelong learners and champion team member growth and advancement
