Position: Director of AI, Programming and Cloud Computing

Reports to: Sr. Director, Instructor Academy
Location: National, with regular travel to on-premises training locations

SUMMARY

The Director of Instructor Development & Delivery – AI, Programming & Cloud Computing plays a central role in ensuring instructional excellence across Per Scholas’ technical training programs in AI, Cloud Computing, Programming, and Data disciplines. This role balances hands-on instructor support with broader leadership responsibilities by overseeing instructor training initiatives, driving consistency in instructional delivery, and supporting organizational certification and graduation goals.

The Director directly manages Instructor Development & Delivery Managers, providing mentorship, feedback, and accountability, while also working closely with site leaders and the Product Development team to ensure alignment between curriculum, classroom delivery, and organizational outcomes. This role emphasizes execution and leadership of training initiatives, while contributing to data-driven strategies for continuous improvement in instructional performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIESInstructor Development & Delivery
  • Oversee the design and implementation of instructor development plans, ensuring alignment with program KPIs (graduation, certification, and learner outcomes).
  • Lead delivery of technical and instructional training workshops for instructors across AI, Programming, and Cloud Computing tracks.
  • Travel to on-premises training sites to conduct observations, provide direct support, and ensure consistent instructional quality.
  • Serve as an instructional backup when coverage gaps arise, though with less frequency than Managers.
Leadership & Team Management
  • Supervise and coach Managers of Instructor Development & Delivery, providing guidance, feedback, and professional growth opportunities.
  • Set clear performance goals for direct reports, evaluate progress, and ensure alignment with departmental standards.
  • Collaborate with the Sr. Director to translate high-level strategy into actionable training and delivery initiatives.
Resource & Documentation Oversight
  • Support the maintenance and enhancement of instructor resources, templates, and documentation.
  • Ensure consistent adoption of instructional playbooks, training guides, and best practices across instructors and managers.
  • Identify resource gaps and collaborate with the Sr. Director to create scalable solutions.
  • Own and drive the creation of new playbooks, policies, and instructional frameworks within AI, Programming, and Cloud Computing.
  • Ensure all documentation is current, comprehensive, and aligned with organizational strategy and industry best practices.
Data-Driven Strategy & Continuous Improvement
  • Monitor instructional performance through observation data, learner outcomes, and certification results.
  • Recommend and implement targeted interventions for instructors and managers based on data trends.
  • Provide regular reporting on instructional performance to the Sr. Director and VP, highlighting progress, gaps, and opportunities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with site leaders to ensure instructors receive the support needed to meet learner outcomes.
  • Work with Product Development to ensure curriculum and instructional delivery remain aligned.
  • Contribute to the integration of adult learning principles and instructional best practices into technical training.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cloud Computing, Educational Technology, or a related field required (Master’s preferred).

Experience:

  • 5–7 years of instructional training or technical education experience, with expertise in AI, programming, or cloud technologies.
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience managing instructors or instructional teams.
  • Proven ability to design, deliver, and oversee training and development programs.
  • Experience with on-prem and remote instructional delivery.

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and coaching ability, with experience supervising managers or senior instructors.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and facilitation skills.
  • Proficiency in AWS, Azure, or other cloud platforms; familiarity with Docker, Git, or related tools preferred.
  • Data analysis skills with the ability to use insights to drive improvement.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (Canvas) and Salesforce preferred.
  • Deep understanding of adult learning and instructional design principles.

For this role specifically, we are offering a salary range between $75,000/year and $85,000year, where the difference in salary is typically determined by several factors, including geography in which the selected candidate resides, and alignment with qualifications and experience.
