Position Summary

The Business Development Manager, Clinical Trials (Central Laboratory Services) is responsible for driving business growth and expanding client relationships within the U.S. clinical trials market. This role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, managing key customer accounts, and promoting Sonic Clinical Trials' central laboratory services to pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and CRO clients.

The successful candidate will lead sales and account management activities, support proposal and contract development, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional client outcomes. This position plays a key role in achieving the company's revenue, growth, and profitability objectives while strengthening Sonic Clinical Trials' presence in the clinical research industry.

Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development & Sales
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue growth and market expansion objectives.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities within pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology organizations, CROs, and other clinical research stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities through proactive business development activities.
  • Lead client presentations, pricing discussions, proposal development, and contract negotiations.
  • Meet or exceed established sales and revenue targets.
Account Management & Client Relations
  • Manage all aspects of customer relationships, including quoting, reporting, invoicing coordination, and ongoing account management.
  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with existing and prospective clients.
  • Respond to client inquiries and business requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Understand customer needs and provide tailored central laboratory solutions.
Collaboration & Operations
  • Partner with internal teams including Laboratory Operations, Project Management, Quality Assurance, and Proposals to ensure successful service delivery.
  • Support the development of clear, compelling proposals and quotations.
  • Maintain accurate customer and opportunity records within CRM systems and databases.
Marketing & Industry Engagement
  • Monitor industry trends, competitive activity, and regulatory developments within the clinical trials market.
  • Prepare sales forecasts, pipeline reports, and performance updates for management.
  • Represent Sonic Clinical Trials at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events.
  • Support the development of marketing materials, including brochures, website content, presentations, and promotional collateral.
  • Contribute to the annual marketing and industry events calendar.
Qualifications & ExperienceRequired
  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience in business development, sales, project management, or account management within a CRO, central laboratory, clinical research, or healthcare organization.
  • Strong knowledge of the U.S. clinical trials industry.
  • Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets and developing long-term client relationships.
  • Excellent presentation, negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, CRM platforms, and clinical trial management systems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
Preferred
  • Master's degree in Life Sciences, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Formal sales or negotiation methodology certification.
  • Membership in relevant industry associations or professional bodies.
