Position Overview:
The Director, Business Operations will provide senior-level leadership and strategic advisory services to JSI's broadband and telecommunications clients. The Director will lead complex consulting engagements focused on business operations, organizational effectiveness, process improvement, strategic planning, and operational transformation.

This individual will be expected to quickly understand a client's business, identify both immediate and underlying challenges, and translate those findings into practical, actionable solutions. The Director will serve as a senior point of contact for clients and will be expected to establish credibility with C-level executives while effectively engaging employees and leaders throughout an organization.
The role requires a combination of strategic thinking, operational expertise, consulting leadership, business acumen, and exceptional communication skills. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in environments where the solution is not always clearly defined and will bring the judgment and experience necessary to determine what needs to be done, build the appropriate approach, and lead the client through implementation.
The Director will also contribute to the growth of JSI's Business Advisory Services practice through client relationship development, identification of new consulting opportunities, proposal development, thought leadership, and collaboration with JSI's broader team of subject-matter experts.
Responsibilities
Client Leadership & Strategic Advisory
- Serve as a trusted senior advisor to broadband and telecommunications clients, including CEOs, Presidents, owners, and other C-level executives.
- Lead strategic discussions with clients to understand business objectives, organizational challenges, operational gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
- Assess complex business and operational issues and develop practical, sustainable recommendations aligned with each client's strategic objectives.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term executive-level client relationships.
- Actively listen to clients and ask thoughtful, probing questions to uncover underlying needs and challenges.
- Provide candid, professional feedback and recommendations that create meaningful value for the client.
- Understand the overarching strategic vision while translating that vision into detailed, executable initiatives.
Consulting & Project Leadership
- Lead complex, multi-disciplinary consulting engagements from initial assessment and strategy development through implementation and measurable results.
- Establish project objectives, methodologies, work plans, timelines, deliverables, and success metrics.
- Manage multiple concurrent client engagements while maintaining a high standard of quality and responsiveness.
- Lead cross-functional teams and leverage JSI subject-matter experts to develop comprehensive solutions.
- Identify opportunities to expand the scope of existing engagements based on evolving client needs.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest standards of client satisfaction.
- Develop and deliver executive-level presentations, reports, workshops, assessments, and strategic recommendations.
Business Operations & Organizational Transformation
- Evaluate business processes, organizational structures, policies, procedures, and operational models to identify opportunities for increased efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop and implement recommendations related to organizational design, business processes, workforce effectiveness, and operational performance.
- Advise clients on the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
- Assess and improve business systems, including billing, operational, customer management, and other technology-enabled processes.
- Design or evaluate incentive compensation programs aligned with organizational objectives and desired employee behaviors.
- Develop performance metrics, dashboards, and management processes that enable clients to make better business decisions.
- Support organizational transformation and change management initiatives.
- Translate complex business challenges into clear priorities, actionable plans, and sustainable solutions.
Practice & Business Development Leadership
- Contribute to the growth and strategic direction of JSI's Business Advisory Services practice.
- Identify new client opportunities and additional areas where JSI can provide value to existing clients.
- Participate in business development activities, including client meetings, proposals, presentations, and scope development.
- Develop trusted relationships within the telecommunications and broadband industry that support JSI's growth objectives.
- Contribute to thought leadership, industry presentations, conferences, and other activities that enhance JSI's market presence.
- Collaborate with JSI's financial, engineering, regulatory, grants, and other consulting practices to develop integrated client solutions.
- Mentor and develop consultants and other team members, helping to strengthen the firm's overall consulting capabilities.

- Maintain current knowledge of broadband, telecommunications, operational, technology, and business trends to ensure recommendations reflect current industry best practices.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive experience in business operations, management consulting, telecommunications operations, organizational transformation, business advisory services, or a closely related field.
- 7+ years of experience working within the telecommunications, broadband, ISP, telephone, electric utility, or closely related industry.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex consulting engagements or strategic business initiatives from assessment through implementation.
- Proven experience advising and presenting to C-level executives and senior leadership teams.
- Strong understanding of business operations, organizational design, process improvement, and operational performance management.
- Demonstrated experience establishing organizational policies, processes, procedures, and governance structures.
- Experience designing, implementing, or administering incentive compensation programs.
- Strong business process analysis and operational improvement skills.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex client needs into actionable strategies and initiatives.
- Exceptional executive communication, presentation, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects and competing priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to quickly understand both the strategic "big picture" and the detailed steps necessary to execute successfully.
- Strong business judgment and the ability to provide candid, constructive recommendations to clients.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while effectively leveraging internal subject-matter experts and cross-functional teams.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% based on client and business requirements.
- Bachelor's degree required. MBA or advanced degree in business, management, organizational development, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Previous management consulting or professional services experience strongly preferred.
