ABOUT YOU 

You are energized by the work of Interfaith America, and you want to make our work more impactful with excellent data and data-driven decisions. You have experience proposing and making strategic decisions that better the organization’s use of constituent data for programmatic, marketing & communication, public affairs, executive and fundraising teams. You are ready to dive into learning more about our programs, and to listen to stakeholders to work from strategy to implementation to meet their CRM needs. You are excited about honing every aspect of our database (Salesforce) from data cleansing, to creating dashboards, to user adoption and making strategic decisions. You are ready to work across programs and with staff members to create and maintain a positive and intentional “data culture” as it relates to prioritizing data cleanliness and data-driven decisions in our work.

Responsibilities Data Governance and Data Strategy:  

  • Oversee all data for the organization and ensure that the CRM (Salesforce) meets the needs of our organizational strategy. 

  • Develop a deep understanding of our programmatic, marketing & communications, executive office, and fundraising goals, realize those data needs, and propose solutions for each team. 

  • Partner with stakeholders to develop business processes and technical solutions within Salesforce (SF) to support Interfaith America’s programmatic, marketing & communications, executive office, and fundraising goals.  

  • Lead constituent segmentation strategy for all IA contacts in SF to ensure data is up to date and segmented appropriately.  

  • Partner with stakeholders to analyze data, and to pull reports/insights to stakeholders, in partnership with Director of Program Operations and Evaluation when relevant. 

  • Create dashboards and other systems for directors to monitor program progress and outcomes 

  • Project manage and prioritize among multiple Salesforce-related projects; manage expectations among stakeholders. 

  • Partner with the Digital Marketing Director and the Director of Program Operations & Evaluation, as well as other colleagues, on evaluation and metrics tracking across the organization.  

  • Direct a portion of Program Operation’s Manager and Program Operation Coordinator’s time as related to data consistency, resolving program-related issues, and tracking programs for evaluation. Direct the Manager and Coordinators’ time to:

    • Provide ongoing and routine oversight of all data including running reports and ensuring new data is adhering to data standards and processes.  

    • Monitor and audit data going into Salesforce to remove duplicate entries and errors, and manually correct errors or liaise with appropriate team members to address issues. 

Database Optimization: 

  • Champion database user adoption and promoting a culture of data across the org.  

  • Solicit user feedback with targeted adoption thresholds and outcomes; gather and act on user experience data. 

  • With Program Operations Manager:

    • develop and lead trainings for internal users on Salesforce functions, including new hires. 

    • create, distribute, and update necessary educational materials for internal users. 

  • Manage and direct the work of our Salesforce vendor, Idealist, to develop Salesforce to meet the needs of the organization. Partner with Idealist or other consultant to configure and support Salesforce environment, including Salesforce Sales Cloud, Marketing Cloud (ExactTarget), and NGO Connect. Additionally supports CVent, FormAssembly, GeoPointe, and DrawLoop integrations. 

  • Collaborate on Salesforce integrations with Interfaith America’s digital platforms including interfaithamerica.org and Cvent based pages. 

  • Collaborate with Idealist to make system updates and enhancements, and to ensure SF infrastructure matches long term organizational needs. 

  • Stay up to date on new and updated SF integrations and automations; help directors on ways they can utilize these tools to create efficiencies and have the most impact.  

  • Foster relationships with Salesforce Foundation and other vendors

Location: This position will work 2-3 days per week from our Chicago Loop office and 2-3 days per week from home

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree 

  • 5-8 years of database management, data analysis, evaluation, and/or      program management experience 

  • Several years’ experience managing Salesforce  

  • Authorization to work in the United States 

Preferred Qualifications (not required) 

  • High level of religious literacy and fluency in diversity, pluralism, and inclusion. 

  • Social impact or nonprofit experience

  • IA Theory and Methodology –Ability to explain and engage constituents in Interfaith America’s theory and methodology in a way that resonates with that constituent, and they understand our work within their own context. (This is not expected prior to hire, taught on the job)
