At Dragos, the mission is personal. The systems we protect deliver the water you drink, power your home, and keep the hospitals your community depends on running. Those critical infrastructure systems that power our civilization around the world are under attack every day by adversaries. When those systems fail, people are immediately at risk. We are the global leader in xOT cybersecurity, combining technology, threat intelligence, and expert services. The people here chose this work because they understand what is at stake. Here, you will find a remote-first mission-driven team across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and APAC built on authenticity, transparency, and trust. If safeguarding the systems that protect your family, friends, and community is the kind of work that matters to you, you are in the right place.

Dragos is looking for an experienced Director of Engineering to lead a multi-team engineering organization building and sustaining our OT cybersecurity products, most notably the Dragos Platform. This role reports to the VP of Engineering, leads a minimum of four engineering managers, and is accountable for an overall organization of 35 to 50 people.

You will own a set of discipline-based engineering communities, such as frontend, backend, data, AI, etc. each led by a manager with a team of engineers in that discipline. Engineers from these communities staff cross-functional product teams that are led day to day by a tech lead and a product manager, with your managers serving in an advisory and coaching capacity. Success in this role means your managers and engineers raise the technical bar everywhere they are deployed, and that you drive department-wide improvements alongside your engineering and product director peers.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineering managers, each accountable for a discipline-based engineering community. Own their performance, growth, and effectiveness as people leaders.
  • Provide substantive technical guidance to your managers and their teams on software design and architecture, code quality practices, testing strategy, and review discipline. Stay close enough to the work to add real value in a design or code review.
  • Set the standard for AI-assisted engineering. Evaluate and roll out AI development tooling, define practices for its effective and responsible use, and coach your managers on where it accelerates delivery and where human judgment and review remain essential.
  • Own and drive key initiatives across the engineering department, working alongside your director peers on engineering standards, delivery practices, tooling, onboarding, and reduction of technical debt.
  • Partner closely with product directors to staff and support cross-functional product teams, balancing engineering capacity against roadmap commitments and resolving competing priorities at the lowest possible level.
  • Coach the tech leads and engineers in your organization so that product teams they support consistently deliver reliable, secure, and maintainable software.
  • Be accountable for the long-term health of the services and codebases your organization owns, including operational readiness and support for deployed product.
  • Build influential working relationships across engineering, product, and the wider business. Resolve the majority of disagreements yourself, and escalate the remainder promptly with clear context.
  • Own technical hiring for your organization: shape roles, run interview panels, and raise the bar on selection and onboarding.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years leading software engineering teams, including 3+ years managing managers
  • Experience leading an engineering organization of 20 or more people across multiple teams
  • Strong technical background as a practicing software engineer and working fluency across technical architectures, including frontend, data, networking, backend, etc.
  • Demonstrated fluency with AI development tooling, including coding assistants, agentic workflows, and AI-assisted review and test generation, plus a clear point of view on how to adopt it across a team
  • Cybersecurity experience at a product company shipping commercial software to external customers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the range to move between executive updates, peer negotiation, and detailed technical review
  • Experience supporting agile, cross-functional teams that pair engineering with product management
  • Experience with performance evaluation, promotion recommendations, and performance improvement processes

Nice to have:

  • Experience with OT or ICS environments, threat detection, or asset visibility products
  • Experience integrating engineering teams following an acquisition

Compensation:

  • Salary:  $260,000
  • Competitive Equity Package
  • Comprehensive Benefits Plan
