POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Enterprise Investigations Unit (EIU) is responsible for conducting timely, unbiased, thorough, and confidential investigations into allegations of internal or external misconduct including, but not limited to, fraud, theft, waste, abuse, assets, brand, reputation, misappropriation/misuse of company or other entity assets and other financial and non-financial misconduct. This role includes managing the company hotline, overseeing the intake of hotline reports and reports from other channels (e.g., email, specific contact person or department, other internal reporting systems), and coordinating investigations. The Director will collaborate with cross-functional teams and prepare detailed investigation reports for senior management.
POSITION RESPONSBILTIES:
- Oversee and manage EIU team and hotline operations.
- Develop and implement investigation strategies to identify and prevent fraudulent activity and misconduct
- Prepare detailed and accurate investigation reports and summarize findings
- While employing effective interview techniques, conduct interviews with appropriate individuals to ascertain facts, and gather information and evidence
- Work collaboratively with various internal departments (e.g., legal, human resources, compliance, lines of business) to bring investigations to resolution
- Schedule and manage quarterly Ethics Committee meetings including preparation of agendas and creation of presentation materials
- Create, socialize, and implement company’s anti-fraud framework, including strategies and processes to mitigate, detect and respond to fraudulent activities
- Testify in court and/or in regulatory administrative proceedings as needed
- Provide reports as warranted by various government entities
- Perform other duties as assigned
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Finance, Accounting, Insurance Studies, Human Resources, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience involving hotline investigations/management, fraud investigations and management experience preferably within the insurance or financial services industry. Law enforcement or regulatory agency experience is a plus.
- Excellent interviewing skills with ability to assess, analyze and clearly communicate critical information
- Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and critical thinking skills
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Advanced written and oral communication skills
- Preferred related designations (e.g., CFE/CPA/CIA/QIAL)
- Experience in conducting social media and open-source intel (OSINT) investigations preferred.
- Preferred experience with Galvanize (ACL), SQL, SPSS, Tableau, and data analysis or visualization tools
- Demonstrated knowledge of financial crime investigation principles and techniques
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across multiple lines of business/functions at various levels of an organization
- Some U.S. Travel required
- This is a hybrid role working out of our Chicago, IL office.
- The range for this position is $108,600 to $180,900. When determining candidate offers, we consider experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location among other factors. This job is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and Kemper benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, 401k, etc.)
