The Corporate Sales & Structuring group is a team within Global Markets Fixed Income, Currencies & Commodities (FICC) responsible for originating and executing hedging and financing transactions for BMO’s corporate and commercial clients. Working closely with investment, corporate and commercial banking, the team serves as product experts with a coverage universe including foreign exchange, interest rate and equity derivatives, structured finance, equity linked securities and commodities.

MANDATE

Reporting to the Managing Director & Head Foreign Exchange Structuring, the Vice President or Director (depending on experience and qualifications)role requires the ability to structure options by using a high level of detail to efficiently respond to pricing requests and adding value in proposing client solutions. Additionally, the candidate would be expected to present ideas to the sales team and clients. 

This position is ideally suited to talented, highly motivated individuals who seek to further develop a career in Capital Markets. Location: preference for Toronto based; but other major centers in North America will be considered.

ACCOUNTABILITIES DEFINED

A.  Structuring and Modelling

  • Accurately and efficiently respond to client pricing requests
  • Structure trades in Murex, precisely incorporating trader inputs
  • Model scenario analysis under various hedging strategies

B.  Enhancing Client Relationships

  • Partner with Global FX sales to support client relationships and business development
  • Develop value-add trade ideas that apply economic, political, and market trends
  • Identify and deliver restructure opportunities for clients
  • Conduct client presentations and help build out analytical capabilities to leverage client information

C. Working with internal partners

  • Build strong internal relations with FX sales and trading teams to offer value-added client solutions, while adhering to product and risk limits
  • Coordinate with internal partners (including back office and legal) to assist in improving processes for the best client experience

SCOPE AND IMPACT

This role has direct or indirect impact on the following:

The work product directly involves front-line revenue generation, impacts the growth initiatives within the Business Unit, impacts client exposures and multiple other aspects of market risk. 

The successful candidate will contribute to the team through delivery of foreign exchange strategies and strategic recommendations to clients.  This ultimately results in significant revenue generation for the Business Unit.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Knowledge:

  • 5+ years experience in Foreign Exchange sales/trading with a strong understanding of FX options
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Experience with Murex, WSS or equivalent systems
  • Working knowledge of Bloomberg and MS Office (Word, Power Point, Excel, and ideally VBA)

Skills:

  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills
  • Highly skilled in building FX option structures
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to be creative, insightful and resourceful in performance of duties
  • Strong interpersonal skills used within a demanding team environment
  • Strong ability to attentively review, assess, and provide detailed information daily on multiple projects in an organized manner
  • Self-motivated to keep up to date on product knowledge and share ideas with sales

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
