Position Summary:

The Director, Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) will be responsible for working as a strategic partner collaborating with senior leaders to provide consulting and HR expertise as they build their organization and talent capabilities. This role partners with the HR Centers of Excellence (COEs) to formulate human capital strategies in support of business objectives and provides consultative services across all the HR disciplines including Total Rewards, Talent Management, and Talent Acquisition.

          

Position Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a full member of the leadership team and is a trusted advisor to the leaders they support. 
  • Sees the business through a talent lens and works with senior leadership to develop holistic strategic plans to accomplish our objectives. •    
  • Leverages data-based decision making and business insights to identify talent gaps and strategies to fill them. 
  • Builds a deep understanding of the talent in their organization and develops an informed point of view on capabilities and development opportunities. 
  • Drives a high-performance organization through the acquisition, development, and retention of key talent and provide a framework that enables rigorous and integrated talent management practices in concert with HR Centers of Excellence to achieve superior business results.
  • Collaborates with senior leaders regarding organization design, structure, and workforce planning that optimally supports operational and strategic objectives of the corporation.
  • Partners with the business and HR Centers of Excellence to diagnose human resource implications of the organization’s strategy and formulate corresponding human capital strategies to facilitate achievement of business goals.
  • Diagnoses large scale organization effectiveness and team performance issues and partners with senior leaders and their leadership teams with appropriate change management frameworks and initiatives to drive desired change.
  • Fosters a sense of energy, ownership and personal commitment.
  • Leads a team of HR professionals.

                                                                                                                                             

 Position Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in Human Resources.
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in human resource management or related field or equivalent level of experience, training and education.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in positions of increasing responsibility.
  • Experience working in Insurance or Financial Services experience preferred.
  • Strong change and influential leader with experience working in a transformational environment.
  • PHR / SPHR and SHRM-CP Certifications are a plus. 
  • Strong results and process improvement orientation. Suggests change that has a positive impact. 
  • Ability to build strong, meaningful relationships across many different audiences and personality types. 
  • Anticipates and deals effectively with concerns or resistance to change.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; proven record of successfully working in a consultative manner with every level of internal and external customer, including executive and senior management.
  • Strong business acumen and savvy. Understands and effectively applies general principles of business and financial management.
  • Understands patterns, trends and interrelationships.
  • Strong influencing capability. Identifies the agendas, concerns, and motivations of others.
  • Statistical data analysis in a business environment, particularly dealing with human capital data.

  • The range for this position is $108,600 to $180,900. When determining candidate offers, we consider experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location among other factors.  This job is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and Kemper benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, 401k, etc.)  
  • Travel of 10-20% required.
  • This is a hybrid role that can be worked out of Kemper’s Alpharetta, GA, Chicago, IL or Downers Grove, IL office.
