Position Overview:

As Director of Internal Communications, you will work closely with fellow Marketing & Communications team members and senior leadership to lead a broad range of high-visibility communications and stakeholder management initiatives that engage key audiences and support the Firm’s vision, culture and business strategies. You are a bold and strategic communicator with a bias toward action — someone who thrives on shaping narratives, influencing audiences, and driving impact. The position will be based out of Chicago, NYC, Nashville, Washington D.C. on a hybrid schedule. Remote locations may be considered on a case by case basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communications strategy: Shape and execute cohesive communications and content strategies that support leaders with transformational initiatives, drive colleague awareness of Ankura’s services, solutions and expertise, and foster a culture of connectivity and collaboration.

  • Content development: Work directly with leadership and other stakeholders across the firm to curate and create compelling content that amplifies initiatives, accomplishments and innovations, including articles, case studies, videos and more.  

  • Internal communications: Oversee internal communications and advocacy initiatives, ensuring alignment with the company’s mission, values and culture. Create an environment in which colleagues across regions, functions and levels are informed, engaged, and connected. Lead a cross-functional team to revise, refresh and maintain the company intranet built on SharePoint.

  • Executive communications:  Build high-trust relationships with executive leadership to drive key strategic initiatives and boost colleague alignment and engagement through key message and “talk track” development, firmwide emails, intranet content and more. 

  • Internal Business Function support: Provide strategic communications support to internal business functions, including HR, Legal, IT, and Finance. Create copy for firmwide communications, including organizational updates, announcements and more.

  • Strategic Change Management: Partner with firm leadership to craft messaging for transformational initiatives, ensuring alignment and consistency across all communication channels.  

Requirements:

  • The preferred candidate is a strategic thought leader and expert communicator with a deep understanding of internal communication and employee engagement strategies, tactics and trends.

  • 10+ years of experience in the development of a wide range of written communications, preferably within a global advisory or consulting firm. Significant experience in content development, including articles, case studies, videos, executive communications, and internal communications required.

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field.

  • Exceptional writing and copy-editing skills, with demonstrated excellence in the creation of compelling content.  

  • Experience with the development of content for a company intranet (built on SharePoint) is highly desirable. Proficiency in recording and editing video content is preferred.

  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Demonstrates ability to work independently and to influence without authority.

  • Quickly grasps new concepts and technologies to enhance communication strategies, including the use of AI.

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
