Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Human Resources to lead our HR operations, recruiting, and payroll functions. This strategic leadership role will oversee key areas of the People Team and play a central role in scaling and integrating HR operations across a growing, multi-partner platform.

The Director will act as a close partner to the Chief People Officer and senior leadership, driving HR strategy, M&A integration, and cultural alignment across entities. This is a unique opportunity for a people-first leader who thrives in high-growth, evolving environments.

PLEASE NOTE: This role is based in our downtown Chicago office and follows a hybrid work model, combining in-office collaboration with the flexibility to work remotely part of the week. 

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute a forward-looking HR strategy aligned with company growth goals and value creation plans
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the CPO and executive team on organizational design, leadership development, and workforce planning
  • Build and lead a high-performing HR team across talent acquisition, employee relations, total rewards, DEI, and more
  • Drive workforce planning and org development initiatives to support scalable growth

M&A Integration & Culture

  • Lead HR due diligence and integration strategy during acquisitions
  • Balance cultural autonomy with system alignment across partner organizations
  • Preserve and promote a collaborative, purpose-driven culture during periods of change

Talent & Culture Strategy

  • Champion employee engagement, recognition, belonging, and retention programs
  • Oversee talent acquisition, onboarding, retention, and succession planning efforts
  • Promote inclusive leadership development and DEI initiatives across the organization

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Oversee benefits, payroll, compensation, HRIS, and general HR compliance
  • Standardize and scale HR policies and processes while allowing for regional flexibility
  • Lead the execution of key HR programs including performance management, compensation benchmarking, employee relations, and onboarding
  • Drive adoption of automation and systems to increase HR efficiency
  • Track and report on HR metrics and analytics to support executive decision-making

Required Qualifications:

  • 7-10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, with at least 3 years at the Director level or equivalent
  • Proven success leading HR in M&A environments and post-integration scenarios
  • Experience leading in a decentralized, multi-entity organization
  • Expertise in employment law, benefits, payroll, and HR systems
  • Strong communication, change management, and executive presence

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in private equity–backed or services-based organizations
  • HR certification (e.g., SPHR, SHRM-SCP)
  • Familiarity with retirement or financial services sectors

Travel Requirements

This role may require occasional travel to partner sites across the U.S.
