Dive in and do the best work of your career at DigitalOcean. Journey alongside a strong community of top talent who are relentless in their drive to build the simplest scalable cloud. If you have a growth mindset, naturally like to think big and bold, and are energized by the fast-paced environment of a true industry disruptor, you’ll find your place here.  We value winning together—while learning, having fun, and making a profound difference for the dreamers and builders in the world.

As the Head of Product Marketing, you will architect the market strategy for our AI era. This is a leadership role designed for a strategic visionary who remains a builder at heart. You will lead a high-performing team of Product Marketers to translate the "impossible" into the "essential," ensuring our Agentic Inference Cloud is the first choice for the next generation of AI-native startups.

Based in our San Francisco hub, you will interface regularly with executives and cross-functional leaders to set the technical and creative standard for how DigitalOcean wins the AI market.

What You’ll Do
  • Architect and Evolve the Narrative: Own the development and global adoption of the DigitalOcean narrative. Transform complex product capabilities into a sharp market point of view—defining not just what we built, but who it’s for, what it replaces, and why it wins.
  • Lead, Scale, and Elevate: Hire, coach, and scale a world-class PMM team. You are responsible for raising both the floor and the ceiling of your team's output—ensuring technical accuracy while empowering your reports to become elite storytellers for complex AI capabilities.
  • Translate Architecture into Market Value: You bridge the gap between deep engineering and market-facing authority. You distill complex technical architectures—such as latency benchmarks, model quantization, and RAG efficiency—into the high-impact value propositions that convince technical buyers, media, and investors that DigitalOcean is the definitive platform for production-grade AI.
  • Orchestrate Narrative-Led GTM: Move beyond launching features. Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Marketing to drive narrative-led introductions, defining clear objectives, GTM strategies, and success metrics. Ensure every launch includes rigorous proof points that demonstrate tangible value to our ICP.
  • Own the Revenue Toolkit: Define our positioning and moats and against competitors. Translate technical intelligence and competitive differentiation into high-impact sales toolkits (e.g. pitch decks, playbooks, battlecards, and talk tracks) that give our field teams the technical and strategic confidence to win complex AI opportunities and close high-value deals.
  • Cultivate Radical Customer Empathy: Lead your team–and inspire other teams–in maintaining a real-time understanding of the technical buyer. You ensure our roadmap and messaging remain grounded in truth, steering the organization away from marketing fluff. You focus on celebrating our customers’ success and telling their stories, thereby pulling through vs. pushing DigitalOcean’s value message.
Who You Are
  • Experienced Leader: A proven track record of hiring, coaching, and leading high-performing teams, with deep experience in product marketing for developer platforms or infrastructure. You are as comfortable presenting to the C-suite as you are reviewing a technical launch plan.
  • Hands-on and Curious: You love rolling up your sleeves and accomplishing things you’ve never done before. You don't wait for a technical writer to explain a feature; you test it yourself. You are comfortable in a terminal and an IDE, and you can spin up a containerized environment to see exactly how a product works.
  • AI-Native: You use AI daily to augment your own workflows. You have a pulse on the weekly shifts in the landscape—from model benchmarks to emerging agentic frameworks like AutoGen, CrewAI, or LangGraph.
  • Turn Ambiguity into Clarity: You can transform complex product capabilities into a sharp market point of view. You define the "ground truth" of what developers are building, steering the organization away from marketing fluff and toward provable value.
  • A "Shark" Mindset: You are a self-starter who thrives in ambiguity. You don’t wait for a playbook; you write it. You think big, bold, and scrappy.
Compensation Range:
  • $173,600 - $217,000
