Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Senior-level Engineer for our development of solid state power generation devices. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of experience – inclusive of any graduate research, post-doctoral positions, and industry roles – with a focus on mechanical thermal systems, thermal interface design, thermal fluid interfaces, or similar applications. As a Director/Sr. Engineer you will lead the design and integration of our first generation of devices, drive innovation, oversee the development of device prototypes utilizing novel materials, and ensure the successful execution of our product development strategies.

This person will be expected to show leadership and resilience in developing new products. This person will reach performance measures for evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of our products as they continue to evolve.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively in a team with scientists and engineers in the development of advanced electronic devices.
  • Engage in the recruitment, interview, hiring, and on-boarding of exceptional individuals to expand your team’s capacity, capabilities, and diversity.
  • Actively contribute to innovation pipeline, from ideation to commercialization, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals.
  • Oversee and manage product development projects, including planning, execution, and budget management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, engineering, and marketing, to bring new­­ materials to market.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in thermal systems and advanced materials development to maintain the company's competitive edge.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external research institutions, universities, and industry partners.
  • Foster a safe environment that encourages enthusiastic dialog and enforces accountability within the team.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Mechanical engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in R&D for thermal mechanical products, with a focus on heat transfer fluids, thermal interface engineering, thermal energy systems, energy storage, fuel cells, solid state power generation, or related areas.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading R&D or engineering teams and managing complex projects.
  • Strong expertise in developing prototyping physical products and testing them in a variety of operating environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Experience in working with start-ups or fast-paced, dynamic environments is a plus.
  • A mature, experienced, resilient scientist who has successfully developed electrochemical applications from early research up to commercial production.
  • Organized with the ability to set priorities and deliver on them most of the time.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in R&D for thermal mechanical products, with a focus on heat transfer fluids, thermal interface engineering, thermal energy systems, energy storage, fuel cells, solid state power generation, or related areas.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading R&D or product engineering teams and managing complex projects.
  • Strong expertise in developing and testing physical prototyping
  • In-depth knowledge of heat transfer, thermal analysis, and heat conversion efficiency
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Experience in working with start-ups or fast-paced, dynamic environments is a plus.
