This is a full-time, on-site position at our Champaign, Illinois location. Working hours are Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.

Typical pay for this position is $150,000-$160,000 annually. The final offer for this position will be based on the unique experience and qualifications of the candidate selected. This position may also be eligible for a bonus not included in the base pay range.

The Director of Supply Chain Planning oversees Inventory, and Supply Planning processes across Horizon Hobby’s global supply chain. This individual will lead and develop a team of supply chain managers and other planning professionals in overseeing supply chain processes including sales & operational planning, inventory planning, supply planning, mid to long term supply and inventory strategies, new products launch planning, SKU optimization, E&O management, fill rate maximization, and process improvement. This leader will align Supply Chain processes and initiatives to support corporate growth and profitability.  This role will have strong relationships through the organization to deliver results and adjust to changing business conditions.  This individual will be part of Horizon’s operations leadership team and expected to make significant improvements to current processes and its performance.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities are not limited to the list below:

  • Full Oversight into all inventory and supply planning processes including strategy development, execution of strategies and continuous adjustment based on Horizon’s near- & long-term strategies
  • Develop annual global inventory targets and strategies, collaborating with Marketing, Sales, finance and product development teams to optimize inventory turns while maintaining targeted in stock and fill rates to customers, and supporting Horizon Growth strategies.  The result of executing these strategies is a strong Gross Margin Return on Investment (GMROI)
  • Develop and implement best-practice Customer Facing KPIs such as On-Time Deliveries, In Stock and Fill Rate, and Inventory Coverage, and Forecast Measurements, and use them effectively to drive continuous improvement and growth
  •  Will have SCM teams (supply, analytics) providing ongoing support to Horizon’s Brand Operating Model. This team will provide input, recommendations and analytics indicating performance of the business, brands, and product lifecycle vs. forecast and budget.  Actions will be used to improve performance and mitigate risks
  • Coach and develop team members to help them achieve their career aspirations while developing a “wellbeing” culture for the team
  • Lead the S&OP process connecting demand and customer signals into development of inventory strategies and plans and executing and monitoring both supply and manufacturing plans.   Continuous monitoring of performance and required adjustments is critical
  • Lead team Inventory and Supply planners with aligned goals to meet business goals while optimizing inventory/working capital, and achieve a minimum fill rate target of 90%
  • Provide continuous inventory analysis and forecasts for use in managing related risks and opportunities and for use in the business and financial planning of the Company. Develop early warning indicators to highlight the likelihood of future deviations from the plan.
  • Will identify and deploy available tools and automation to improve data accuracy, efficiency, speed to action, and allow SCM team to manage and focus on exceptions, risks and opportunities
  • Accountable for inventory levels, service levels, and supply performance
  • Developing and managing supplier relationship and holding Supplier and Supply Chain planning accountable for meeting required performance levels
  • Jointly with Product Development and Quality, strengthen relationships with a core set of Suppliers of Horizon’s proprietary products.  Identify and implement initiatives to shorten lead times and improve delivery performance.
  • Develop and manage capacity plans for each key proprietary vendor, assessing actual production performance against the planned output.  Develop and implement tools, reports, and systems to measure and manage vendor performance.
  • Establish data driven New Product launch plans to ensure fill rate protection while minimizing the E&O exposure considering Horizon’s long lead time variables
  • Identify, understand and resolve known supply constraints or excess inventory risks and continuously communicate known and unknown risks through the S&OP process
  • Establish and implement continuous improvement tools and processes

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business.  Master’s degree in business administration (MBA) preferred
  • Minimum 7+ years of relevant business and leadership experience within Supply Chain
  • APICS/CPIM Certification preferred
  • Possess excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills to be able to build strong work relationships with all levels of the organization
  • Can synthesize information and create a clear synopsis of key issues
  • Possess strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, handle multiple tasks, and work independently
  • Ensure attention to detail
