Job Description: We are seeking an experienced professional to lead our Tax operations function. The successful candidate will support the Company's initiatives in building a scalable Tax function with a focus in
US and International tax planning and review of technical issues. The ideal candidate will have a breadth of in-house and/or advisory experience in tax strategy and planning in serving a multinational corporation and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment. The candidate must have strong skills in tax research and communication and experience in building processes and policies.
The anticipated pay range for this role is as follows: $170k-190k annually. The actual compensation offered may vary based on job related factors such as experience, skills, education and location.
Core Responsibilities:
As Head of Global Tax, you will effectively manage and coordinate a global team of foreign and US tax advisors, service providers, and auditors to implement and maintain company tax compliance and reporting, savings strategies and support critical business initiatives.
Provide general tax consulting services to the business on a variety of technical tax matters, oversee tax compliance and handle tax controversies.
Perform and direct research, analysis, and interpretation of U.S. tax statutes, including proposed statutes, regulations, accounting rules, and other relevant guidance. Clearly summarize and communicate complex research, recommendations, and tax impact of business results.
Perform and direct international tax services including tax research, foreign tax credit planning, formulating effective and tax-efficient cross-border strategies, mergers and acquisitions, repatriation of earnings, treaty analysis, export sales incentives and responding to inquiries from regulatory authorities.
Quickly develop an understanding of the organization’s needs and strategy to successfully advise and support.
Research U.S. and international tax regulations to propose the most effective strategies for compliance; write and review tax memos and other documents relating to domestic and international tax matters.
Review income and non-income tax returns and ensure timely filings. Develop, maintain and manage a global tax compliance calendar.
Lead the coordination with and oversee external advisors on the preparation of the annual and quarterly global tax provision as well as the global tax filings.
Develop and take ownership of all tax-related disclosures in the Company’s annual and quarterly financial statements.
Provide guidance to accounting leadership regarding the tax impact of certain global accounting initiatives (e.g. purchase accounting).
Establish and monitor processes and working routines for the global tax function as well as evaluation of automated solutions to drive efficiency.
Work with tax advisors to conduct transfer pricing analysis and implement results as well as ensure the timely completion of transfer pricing documentation and benchmarks.
Oversee and advise on global cash distributions and cash movements from a tax perspective.
Provide technical guidance on tax issues to various business units and management.
Qualifying Experience:
Minimum of twelve (12) years’ experience in Public Accounting or industry experience in a Tax Department, including experience in global/multinational tax operations
Strong international tax operations knowledge and understanding of tax issues for a multinational company
Expert ability to identify emerging tax issues and potential impact to the Company
Experience with US and international tax audits
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
Ability to present and discuss technical tax concepts to a non-tax audience
Ability to manage multiple projects in a complex fast-paced environment and deal with and manage uncertainty/change (carve-out and post carve-out environments)
Prior experience in a start-up and/or with Private Equity is highly desirable
Modest travel (if any)
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field is required
A CPA and/or advanced degree in Taxation is preferred
