About Eleanor Health
At Eleanor Health we are helping people affected by addiction live amazing lives. We work to fulfill this goal by building and growing the first addiction and mental health services provider designed to deliver a longitudinal, whole-person, value-based model of care for each community member. Our team is ambitious and committed to this unique opportunity, and understands the importance of attracting strong and experienced talent to make our vision for Eleanor Health a reality every day, and for every recovery journey we are entrusted to be a part of.
About the Role
We are hiring a Director of Technology to lead Eleanor Health’s technology team and own the strategy, execution, and day-to-day operations of our technology function. This is not a greenfield build — it is a leadership role in a complex, fast-moving environment where the right person will bring immediate structure, drive vendor consolidation, and position the team to deliver strategic projects that directly impact community member access and staff productivity.
This role reports to an Executive Leadership Team member and serves as the single point of accountability for all technology matters across the organization.
Why This Role Exists
Eleanor Health’s technology landscape has grown organically over several years to support rapid multi-state expansion. As the organization has scaled, so has the complexity of the systems and vendors that power daily operations. The technology team needs a dedicated leader who can bring structure, simplify the stack, and shift the team’s focus from maintenance to strategic delivery.
We’re looking for someone who can:
- Own prioritization — decide what gets done, in what order, and what doesn’t
- Bring process discipline — establish sprint planning, backlog management, and delivery accountability
- Drive simplification — consolidate vendors, reduce tool sprawl, and chart a path to fewer, better-integrated systems
- Interface with leadership — serve as the single point of contact for the ELT on technology strategy, capacity, and tradeoffs
- Shift the team’s balance — move from reactive maintenance to proactive delivery of high-impact projects
What You'll Own
Team Leadership & Delivery
- Lead and manage a team of 2 Project Managers, 3 Software Engineers, and 1 IT Systems Administrator (plus 2 part-time contractors)
- Stand up and run a structured sprint process with biweekly planning, backlog management, and sprint reviews
- Generate real velocity data so the business knows what to expect and the team can commit to realistic timelines
- Create a culture of visible, predictable delivery across the technology function
Technology Strategy & Vendor Management
- Own the holistic view of Eleanor Health’s technology stack across EHR, CRM, scheduling, communications, data, and operations
- Drive consolidation toward core platforms and reduce tool sprawl
- Lead platform optimization initiatives to improve system reliability, reduce manual workarounds, and simplify the staff experience
- Evaluate and manage vendor relationships, SLAs, contracts, and costs
Strategic Project Delivery
- Drive evaluation and deployment of AI-powered tools to improve community member access and reduce administrative burden on staff
- Lead system consolidation initiatives to reduce fragmentation and create a single source of truth for key operational data
- Oversee technology setup for new market launches as Eleanor Health expands to additional states
- Partner with Operations, Clinical, and Growth leadership to identify and deliver the highest-impact technology projects
IT Operations & Compliance
- Ensure reliable IT support across a fully remote, multi-state organization
- Maintain security and compliance posture (HIPAA, SOC 2, vendor BAAs)
- Manage license costs and vendor contracts, identifying savings opportunities
Technology Environment
Eleanor Health’s technology stack spans EHR, CRM, scheduling, telephony, data infrastructure, and proprietary internal tools. Core platforms include athenahealth (EHR), Salesforce (CRM), and a home-grown operations platform — supported by a broader ecosystem of specialized vendors across communications, data warehousing, analytics, and more. This is a rich, complex environment with real opportunities to simplify, integrate, and build.
Qualifications
Required
- 7+ years of experience in technology leadership, IT operations, or product/engineering management

- Experience managing complex vendor ecosystems — vendor evaluation, contract negotiation, integration oversight, consolidation
- Strong EHR familiarity (athenahealth experience strongly preferred; Epic, Cerner, or similar acceptable)
- Experience in a multi-site or multi-state healthcare organization, ideally with telehealth/virtual care operations
- Understanding of HIPAA compliance, data security, and healthcare vendor management (BAAs, SOC 2, HITRUST)
- Ability to interface effectively with executive leadership — translating technical complexity into business-level decisions and tradeoffs
Preferred
- Experience at a multi-state virtual behavioral health or substance use disorder treatment organization
- Direct experience with athenahealth administration, configuration, or optimization
- Salesforce administration or integration experience
- Familiarity with healthcare data infrastructure (HL7, FHIR, data warehousing, analytics platforms)
- Experience evaluating and deploying AI-powered tools in a healthcare context (AI phone agents, clinical decision support, workflow automation)
- Background at a tech-enabled healthcare company that went through a similar scaling or consolidation phase
