Job Description:

Distinguished Engineer
Location: This role requires associates to be in-office 3 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace. Alternate locations may be considered if candidates reside within a commuting distance from an office.

Please note that per our policy on hybrid/virtual work, candidates not within a reasonable commuting distance from the posting location(s) will not be considered for employment, unless an accommodation is granted as required by law.

The Distinguished Engineer will be responsible for leading the design, development, and modernization of enterprise workflow experiences. With a deep expertise in ServiceNow, front-end engineering, product engineering, and process optimization, this role will serve as a hands-on technical leader responsible for creating scalable, intuitive, and high-impact digital workflow solutions that improve how business users, operations teams, and technology teams work across the enterprise.

How you will make an impact:

•    Will partner closely with product, design, business units, platform teams, and enterprise architecture to simplify complex processes, improve user experience, and deliver modern workflow-enabled products.
•    Architect and deliver scalable, resilient AI solutions leveraging technologies such as agentic systems, large language models (LLMs), distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
•    Define enterprise-wide technical direction, including architecture patterns, integration standards, and reusable platform capabilities.
•    Lead AI-driven modernization of legacy systems through automated code transformation, service decomposition, and continuous optimization.
•    Design and implement AI-enabled software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices to improve engineering velocity and quality.
•    Establish technical standards, governance frameworks, and best practices for AI systems, including monitoring, evaluation, and responsible AI.
•    Collaborate with UX, product management, engineering, operations, architecture, security, compliance, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, secure, and maintainable product experiences.
•    Partner with engineering teams and stakeholders to enable adoption of AI-assisted development and drive continuous improvement in system performance and productivity.
•    Lead modernization of legacy workflow tools, forms, portals, manual processes, and fragmented user experiences into streamlined digital products.
•    Provide technical leadership and mentorship while influencing enterprise technology decisions through deep expertise and hands-on engineering options, and strategic recommendations for AI investments.

Minimum Requirements:

Requires a bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field and a minimum of 15 years of experience in software engineering, including experience leading, designing, implementing, and operating distributed systems and large-scale architectures, or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background. Experience designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions using Python, Java, or comparable object-oriented programming languages also required, as well as experience designing and implementing APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures, and applying cloud, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

•    Experience designing and building user-centered enterprise products, including portals, dashboards, self-service experiences, case management tools, service catalogs, workflow interfaces, and operational applications is preferred.
•    Experience building workflow-enabled applications using enterprise workflow platforms, automation tools, low-code/no-code platforms, or business process management technologies is preferred.
•    Experience with ServiceNow platform capabilities such as workflow automation, App Engine, Flow Designer, Integration Hub, Service Portal or custom application development is preferred.
•    Experience implementing integrations with enterprise systems through REST APIs, web services, event-driven integrations, middleware, cloud platforms, and enterprise data services is preferred.
•    Hands-on experience building prototypes, proof of concepts, reusable UI components, workflow accelerators, reference implementations, and production-quality application components is preferred.
•    Strong understanding of product engineering practices, including user research, journey mapping, backlog management, experimentation, metrics, telemetry, feedback loops, and iterative delivery is preferred.
•    Familiarity with AI-enabled workflow automation, virtual agents, intelligent routing, process mining, knowledge management, and productivity-enhancing automation capabilities is preferred.
•    Experience including hands-on technical leadership in designing, evaluating, prototyping, or delivering enterprise-scale AI, cloud, platform, integration, or distributed systems solutions is strongly preferred.
