Job Description

As a Drawback Consultant you are responsible for all aspects of a customer’s drawback program. This includes, but is not limited to, collecting and analyzing necessary import and export data, filing accurate and timely claims, acting as primary liaison between customer and CBP and ensuring the overall program’s success and regulatory compliance.  Additional duties as assigned.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Analyze, format and verify all data to process accurate and complete drawback claims and maintenance of those documents

Maintain clear and complete notes of any nuances or peculiarities related to the customer’s data, product identification codes, set or bills of material, claims or methodology for managing the account

Understand customer’s duty recovery and service level expectations

Escalate customer, data and claim issues and delays to Department Manager as appropriate

Maintain a “customer-centric” approach: routine updates of claim submissions or data issues that might delay claim submissions. Over-communication verses under-communication. 

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree or equivalent

Knowledge of CBP compliance and drawback rules & regulations

Prior work experience in an international trade compliance and/or Customs environment

Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines

Licensed Customhouse Broker preferred

Superior technical and computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Access)

Detail-oriented with a pro-active and team-player attitude

Ability to multitask and high attention to detail

Excellent customer service skills

Performance Standards:

Display solid understanding of department operating processes/procedures within the first 90 days.

Demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of drawback process within 180 days of hire.

Excellent computer skills with an emphasis on continual learning and process improvement.

Accuracy in all claims, documentation, and communication with customers and CBP.

Timely responses to customer and CBP requests

Self-sufficient in maintaining/managing desk.

Professionalism in all aspects of behavior.
