Job Description
As an Expert Front End Application Engineer, you'll partner with product designers, user experience experts and our engineers to build an engineering community dedicated to standardizing and furthering front end engineering at Discover. As the leader of the community your will help enable engineers to elevate their craft and build their eminence, internally and externally.
Responsibilities

• Research new technology opportunities and how they can be used to add technical capabilities at Discover
• Drives strategic technology decisions based on collaboration with a board field of experts outside of Discover
• Contributes to the external image of Discover Technology as a desired workplace to learn technology best practices
• Recognized outside of Discover as a thought leader and participates in internal and external communities
• Shapes learning paths for Discover engineers by bringing what they learn back to Discover so everyone can benefit from their experiences

Minimum Qualifications
At a minimum, here's what we need from you:

• Bachelors - Computer Science or related
• Information Technology, (Software) Engineering, or related
• Internal applicants only: technical proficiency rating of expert on the Dreyfus engineering scale

Preferred Qualifications
Bonus Points If You Have:

• Experience guiding, influencing, and teaching engineers
• Agile/Digital transformation experience
• Java, Cucumber, React, Microservices, RESTful, Angular, JavaScript
• Strong understanding of object-oriented principles and their application
• Strong experience working with a relational database and NoSQL database
• Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins or similar; Git/GitHub; Artifactory
• Proven skills in high availability and scalability design, as well as performance monitoring
• Experience developing and implementing API service architectures
• Experience in working in a cloud environment such as OCP, AWS or GCP.
• Understanding of messaging systems like MQ, Rabbit MQ, Kafka, or Kinesis.
• Strong experience of developing multi-threaded and synchronization application
• Build secure web applications with user authentication
• Understanding of software testing principles and methodologies
