ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Lead Frontend Engineer, you will be helping design and develop how ShopRunner integrates with our retail partners' websites. You will build highly tuned web components using Vanilla JS and Typescript. We focus hard on software engineering best practices including isolation of concerns, automated testing and continuous deployment. We hold these practices most dear because it is so important that we seamlessly integrate with our partners. 

You will be challenged as you isolate and limit complexity.  You will be empowered to build the best software by making changes to any parts of the stack, including the back-end.

This role is US based only but we are open to any of our US offices in Chicago, IL, Conshohocken, PA (Philly), and New York City or fully remote in any of these states: CA, DE, IL, IN, FLA, MA, NY, NJ, NC, SC, PA, TX, UT, VA, WA, CT, MD, MI. From time to time, there will be limited travel to our offices as the need arises.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Building the best user experiences for members on ShopRunner partners’ sites using TypeScript 
• Leading the team and the organization in using modern best practices and technologies
• Working closely with designers, product managers, and other engineers
• Giving back to Chicago tech community through conference attendance, meetup presentations, and mentorship

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Bachelors degree along with 7+ years’ experience writing production code for web applications. We love Polyglots who know several other languages and like the right tool for the job
• Expertise with modern JavaScript ecosystem, including ES6, bundlers and Typescript
• Expertise with frontend development best practices including a11y, browser testing and responsive/mobile first development strategies and CSS/SASS/SCSS
• Experience optimizing larger applications to increase speed, scalability, and extensibility.
• Experience with web servers, REST and content hosting.
• Nice to haves but not needed: Experience working in AWS or other cloud providers, Docker, Java/Kotlin
