About the role
At Pangea Money Transfer, we are dedicated to building the world’s best platform for consumers to transfer money internationally by reducing the cost and pain points of money transfer while maintaining high reliability and security standards. Reporting to the SVP of Engineering, the Principal Staff Engineer will collaborate with technical leadership to drive the vision, technical direction, and architecture of Pangea’s platform.
As Principal Staff Engineer, you’ll get to:
- Collaborate with product leadership to plan long term roadmaps by providing recommendations regarding technical approaches, estimated scope and significant risks associated with proposed roadmap initiatives.
- Define and communicate a roadmap that evolves our overall platform architecture to prioritize the right balance for reliability, performance, security, maintainability and development efficiency.
- Develop a deep understanding of critical performance and reliability factors across our apps, platform services, databases and AWS architecture. Setup and utilize multiple analysis tools to ensure we are measuring what matters. Determine where our platform would potentially break and propose changes that improve reliability and enhance our customer experience.
- Lead the analysis of security vulnerabilities and ensure they are resolved with reasonable measures and minimal impacts to customers and business outcomes.
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 12 years of experience in engineering across multiple full stack programming languages and environments.
- Extensive experience with AWS and database systems.
- A bachelor's degree in computer engineering or a related field.
- Excellent communication. You are comfortable explaining complex technical concepts to senior leadership and other engineers.
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally with engineering, data, product, and senior leadership.
- Experience as a technical leader. You enjoy mentoring and leading projects, and driving technical excellence with your team.
Bonus points if you have:
- A master's degree.
- Experience in the payments industry.
- Experience working in the financial technology (fintech) space.
