Job Description:
As a software developer within Discover, you will be responsible for developing large scale customer facing web applications. You will design and integrate systems for Discovers award-winning digital presence by using Agile development methodologies to support existing and new product features.

Break down complex requirements into workable technical solutions to solve the product owners problems
Design and develop high quality software for large scale distributed systems
Collaborate with other developers on code reviews and process enhancements
Actively contribute to instill best practices to support a strong software architecture
Identify areas of improvement in current designs.
Assist other less senior developers with tasks by guiding and giving constructive feedback.
Provide technical and team leadership.
Promote a risk-aware culture, ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes.

Skills:
Background:

You will have at least 5 years of relevant hands-on experience with highly scalable and reliable web applications using Java
You will have a bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
You will be familiar with Agile software development methodologies
You will have a strong understanding of relational databases and object oriented principles
You are ambitious, self-motivated, and willing to grow in a challenging environment

There’s never a dull moment

Melissa Douros’ design team stays booked and busy. After recently completing a brand overhaul, they are creating a unified digital design language across the organization. As part of these efforts, they launched a new mobile app and got to see its impact firsthand. “It’s rare to see reactions to our visuals, but we did extensive user research and roadshows. There is a smile on people’s faces, a connection being made — that is what we are striving for every day.” Up next, the team will be “eliminating cold handoffs” to ensure every customer interaction is a warm experience.

This team pushes themselves and each other to try new things as we work to deliver the best for our customers.
